LOS ANGELES, CA.- A personally owned bible and hymn book owned by British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher will be auctioned by Nate D. Sanders Auctions on July 25, 2019.

Thatcher was brought up as a devout Methodist. The Prime Minister’s father was a Methodist preacher and she was a lay Methodist preacher before she became a politician. Thatcher's faith was an essential part of her life; thus being presented with the bible at the historic St. George's Chapel at Windsor was especially meaningful to her.

The Bible was presented to Thatcher by the Dean and Canons of Windsor, the ecclesiastical body of St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle on June 19, 1995. The occasion was Thatcher's appointment as a Lady of The Most Noble Order of the Garter, one of the highest chivalric orders of the United Kingdom. The softcover has gilt lettering and a Holy Cross to its spine and front cover, with all edges gilt and a black satin page marker.

Bidding on the Bible begins at $12,000.

Hymn Book
The Hymns & Psalms book was presented to Prime Minister Thatcher on December 11, 1989 by the Friend of Wesley's Chapel in London. An inspiration to Methodists around the world, Wesley's Chapel resides next to the home of John Wesley, founder of the Methodist movement, and also houses the Museum of Methodism. The Softcover book was published in 1985 and features gilt lettering on spine and a gilt rendition of the statue of John Wesley on front cover with his quote, ''The World Is My Parish''.

Bidding for the Hymn book begins at $4,500.
