HONG KONG.- On 7 September
Christies will host the first sale in the 2nd half of the year in Asia, by presenting Fine & Rare Wines & Spirits Featuring Eminent Producers & Esteemed Collections. The auction will offer 572 lots of iconic bottles from several single-owner collections, as well as the worlds most sought-after wines from esteemed Châteaux and eminent producers.
Following the hugely successful inaugural sale of whisky in Hong Kong saleroom this May, this sale will present more highly collectible single-malt whisky including a selection from the world-famous The Macallan distillery. Top lot of this session is The Macallan 1937 Lalique Golden Age of Travel (estimate: HK$300,000 450,000/ US$38,000 55,000), which celebrates the partnership of the brand with Lalique and was first bottled in 1972, and rebottled in 2016. The handcrafted Lalique crystal decanter, of which only 50 have been made, features an illustration of an early passenger aeroplane, commemorating the glamorous days of trans-Atlantic adventures in the 1930s. The session also highlights the Macallan Anniversary Malt 25-Year-Old from 1964 and 1965.
The auction also presents outstanding wines from Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhône, Italy, Spain, California, Germany, Portugal and beyond. Also on offer are superlative vintages from Mouton-Rothschild, Lafite-Rothschild, La Mission Haut-Brion, Pape-Clément, Astralis from Clarendon Hills, Beychevelle, Lynch-Bages, Montrose, Pichon Baron, Smith Haut Lafitte, as well as an impressive selection of matured Classed Growth Bordeaux from 1985 to 2011.
