NORTHPORT, NY.- Eli Wilner’s exquisite paintings will be on exhibition and available for acquisition in a limited engagement presentation at
LaMantia Gallery, Long Island’s premier fine art gallery.
In his current exhibit “Montauk Moments”, artist Eli Wilner captures the essence of Montauk in a series of landscape, nautical and floral paintings. Wilner, a long-time resident of Montauk said, “I feel wonderful when I see the beauty of Montauk. I feel even better when I paint it. Art is my refuge…and the why is complicated: my art and its color allow me to gesture, to connect, and it’s quite obvious I have no choice but to create”.
Two limited engagement, not-to-be-missed Gallery receptions with the Artist for the public have been announced: Friday, October 25th from 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday, October 26th from 4:00-7:00pm. A portion of all proceeds from this presentation will be donated to Gift of Life, a Long Island-based organization supporting individuals battling blood cancer. The charity engages the public to help find a cure for blood cancer both through donors or financial support.
As a specialist in period framing for nearly 40 years, Eli Wilner has completed over 15,000 framing projects for collectors and museums. His gallery is held in high regard by both institutions and private collectors for his expertise, extensive inventory, and superior quality of craftsmanship. This regard and confidence is evidenced by customers such as The White House, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Detroit Institute of Arts, Yale University Art Gallery and many private individuals.
One of Wilner’s most important projects is the framing of twenty-eight paintings for The White House, including artworks by Martin Johnson Heade, Worthington Whittredge, William Merritt Chase, John Singer Sargent, Severin Roesen and a painting by Childe Hassam that hangs in the Oval Office. Eli Wilner’s most-known project is the hand-carved and gilded replica of the lost original frame for Washington Crossing the Delaware by Emanuel Leutze. This frame is the focal point of the renovated American Wing at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The frame's opening size is over 12 x 21 feet, and is surmounted by an elaborate construction twelve feet across displaying an eagle, flags, pikes, a banner and other regalia.
Eli Wilner began painting at age 5 and continued his craft through college where he completed a Master’s Degree in Fine Art. During that time, he studied various mediums but focused on realism and abstract expressionist. While continuing his love for the arts, he saw an opportunity to work with the world’s greatest museums and private collectors by providing the finest period art frames. All during his life he collected art, but he always dreamed of becoming a painter. In 2019, Wilner pursued his dream and began, once again, experimenting with impressionist and abstracts in various mediums. This pushed him to expand his horizons and tap into new areas of painting he had not yet explored. This new freedom and personal expression allowed Wilner to begin the “Montauk Moments” collection. This collection focuses on the effects of color, texture and the emotional response to strong composition and design.
Today, Wilner's work is represented by LaMantia Gallery and is included in many prominent art collections, those of notables James Dicke II, Jean Beard, and Michael Altman, amongst many others.
