MILAN, ITALY.- Milan's La Scala opera house after a three-year works. The famous opera house is set to reopen its doors to the public on December 7 with a gala event after undergoing two and a half years of renovations often mired in controversy. The 18th-century theatre which was toured by journalists last week has undergone a face lift that includes state-of-the-art equipment and rehearsal facilities as well as refurbished seats and decorations. The opera scheduled to mark the reopening of La Scala on December 7 is Antonio Salieri's "Europa Riconosciuta," the same one that inaugurated the theater in 1778, directed by conductor Riccardo Muti.
