Ramsay Fairs appoints Kamiar Maleki as Fair Director VOLTA and PULSE
Kamiar Maleki is a Collector, Curator, Fair Director, Patron and Philanthropist with over 15 years’ experience in collecting, curating and managing art projects and Fairs.

NEW YORK, NY.- Ramsay Fairs announce that Kamiar Maleki has been appointed Fair Director of VOLTA and PULSE Art Fair as from 18th November, 2019. Kamiar’s appointment as Fair Director of VOLTA follows the decision of founding Director, Amanda Coulson, to take more of a back seat; Amanda remains on the Board of VOLTA in a non-executive capacity. He will replace Cristina Salmastrelli as Fair Director of PULSE Art Fair, who had filled the position on an interim basis and will now be able to devote herself to her role as the US Managing Director of Ramsay Fairs.

Kamiar Maleki is a Collector, Curator, Fair Director, Patron and Philanthropist with over 15 years’ experience in collecting, curating and managing art projects and Fairs. He was Fair Director of Contemporary Istanbul from 2016–2018. Fluent in English, German and French, he is also Co-Founder of the Agha Khan Museum UK Patrons Chapter, and Founder of ICA Young Patrons for the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in London.

“I am delighted to be joining Ramsay Fairs, an exciting and ambitious group,” Kamiar Maleki stated. “I am excited to continue the efforts of positioning VOLTA and PULSE as the strong fairs for emerging art and artists. A place where we can discover and enjoy art like we have never done before. We want to integrate with the cities we work in and be part of the cultural landscape. Looking forward to welcoming you all to the next editions.”

Last month Ramsay Fairs purchased VOLTA from Merchandise Mart Properties Inc (MMPI). Both PULSE and VOLTA have been running for 15 years.

Cristina Salmastrelli commented “Kamiar will be an excellent ambassador for both PULSE and VOLTA. He is well connected with galleries, curators and collectors; his network will be a great asset to the fairs. We have heard great things about Kamiar from galleries who exhibited at Contemporary Istanbul, and from the team who worked under him there. I look forward to working alongside him into the future.”

Amanda Coulson added: “I am delighted that Kamiar will take over as the Fair Director of VOLTA. As one of the interviewing team, I was truly impressed by his ideas, knowledge and enthusiasm for the VOLTA fairs, all of which he has attended annually in his capacity as a collector. He truly knows the field and is admired by colleagues and already has sound relationships with VOLTA galleries and collectors. We will work collaboratively in the role until the end of this year, at which point I will step into the background, while still providing ongoing strategic advice as a Board member of VOLTA.”
