Hermès exotics, special orders, limited editions lift Heritage Auctions sale above $1.6 million

DALLAS, TX.- Exotic Hermès selections, special orders and limited edition handbags sparked eager bidders and led the total for Heritage Auctions’ Holiday Luxury Accessories Auction Dec. 8 in New York to $1,667,225.

"This traditionally is an exceptional auction, and this year was no exception,” Heritage Auctions Luxury Accessories Director Diane D’Amato said. "It brought out a large selection of clients, some of whom were trying to add to their collections and others who were seeking – and finding – a perfect give for a loved one at the holidays.”

More than a dozen collectors made bids for an Hermès 30cm Blue Sapphire Niloticus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Gold Hardware before it closed at $75,000 to take top-lot honors while headlining the group of exotics in the sale. Other top exotics in the sale included, but were not limited to an Hermès 35cm Matte Gris Elephant Porosus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware, which brought $35,000, an Hermès 30cm Black Epsom & Niloticus Crocodile Birkin Touch Bag with Rose Gold Hardware, which drew $33,750 and an Hermès 35cm Shiny Rose Scheherazade Porosus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware, which finished at $33,750.

The sale included the chance to acquire one-of-a-kind pieces in the form of special order handbags, created when clients and the designers collaborate to bring the clients’ visions into reality. Among the special order handbags, an Hermès Special Order Horseshoe 35cm Matte Craie, Rouge Tomate & Gris Paris Alligator Birkin Bag with Brushed Palladium Hardware finished at $57,500.

Other top special orders included:

· An Hermès Special Order Horseshoe 25cm Black & Fuchsia Nilo Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware: $36,250

· An Hermès Special Order Horseshoe 25cm Black & Fuchsia Nilo Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware: $36,250

· An Hermès Special Order Horseshoe 28cm Gris Mouette & Rose Extreme Veau Clemence Leather Retourne Kelly Bag with Brushed Palladium Hardware: $17,500

· An Hermès Special Order 25cm Blue Electric & Gris Mouette Epsom Leather Kelly bag with Brushed Gold Hardware: $15,000

The auction included a dozen limited edition handbags that were extremely popular, a group led by an Hermès Limited Edition 35cm Fauve Barenia Leather & Osier Wicker Kelly Picnic Bag with Palladium Hardware, which drew multiple bids before bringing $40,000. Other top limited edition lots included:

· An Hermès Limited Edition 25cm "One, Two, Three and Away We Go" Swift Leather Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware: $27,500

· An Hermès Limited Edition 25cm Indigo & Rouge H Epsom Leather Contour Birkin Bag with Gold Hardware: $16,250

· A Chanel Limited Edition Black Lucite & Crystal Rocket Ship Evening Bag: $15,000

· An Hermès Limited Edition 28cm Blue Electric Togo Leather "Au Trot" Retourne Kelly Bag with Palladium Hardware: $15,000
