TOKYO, JAPAN.- The Tokyo National Museum opens today an exhibition themed in birds, the next year's zodiac sign, and various family events. In the Honkan (Japanese Gallery), there will be a Feature Exhibition of the New Year - Celebrating the Year of the Birds from January 2, 2005. On the 2nd and 3rd of January, there will be family events, including Shishimai dance performance, Drum performance, and Edo street vender'scry (Edo Uri-goe). Ikebana installation for New Year, by Ms. Yamane Yumi of Shinseiryu, will decorate the Honkan entrance as well as other areas in the museum premise. Moreover, the museum will give out National Treasure Calendar as a new year's gift to 150 people per day for their more than 2,000 yen purchase at the museum shop or a restaurant.
