MALAGA.- The aim is to not interrupt the informative work that is such a characteristic feature of Museo Picasso Málaga by offering art content of interest to people of all ages and backgrounds. The museum is using this opportunity to release online a selection taken from their cultural and educational programmes, at a time when the museum has been forced temporarily to cancel its face-to-face activities.

This is the case with the Genealogies of Art, or the History of Art as Visual Art exhibition, which was currently showing at Museo Picasso Málaga. On the gallery website, via an illustrated audio guide available in English, you will find a selection of the most significant artworks in the exhibition, by artists such as Picasso, Cézanne, Kandinsky and Malevich.  You can also download a bilingual notebook containing a summary of the exhibition or consult extracts from the catalogue. Music plays its part via a Spotify playlist with a selection of 1930s jazz that would have been heard on US radio stations at the time of Cubism and Abstract Art, to which this exhibition pays tribute.

The museum is also providing online information on the temporary exhibitions that have been held at MPM in recent years, and these can be found in the “Memory” section of the museum webpage: www.museopicassomalaga.org. They include, for example, the bringing-together of Calder and Picasso, and the chronological life-stories of Olga Picasso and Andy Warhol. The fascinating biographies of the women surrealist artists and the members of the so-called School of London are also available online.

As well as on Spotify, which has various playlists based on exhibitions at MPM, the audio platforms Youtube and Soundcloud also are allies during this period. On the museum's Youtube channel you can see video footage of various congresses and conferences that have been held in the Auditorium, such as the 4th International Congress Picasso and History; other gatherings associated with temporary exhibitions; interviews with experts who have taken part in seminars such “European Museums, Mutations and Migrations” or in the various editions of the seminar “Art and Social Inclusion”, based on themes such as museums, accessibility, the role of women, vulnerability and diversity, exclusion, socio-cultural minorities and majorities, migrations, or the role of education in cultural organizations and museums, all as part of the #MásMuseoPicasso project. Many international experts have taken part in these events, speaking in their native languages, so this is also a great opportunity to practice languages while broadening your mind.

Poetry is also on offer, with a selection of recordings of readings given by leading poets in the Poetry at the Picasso cycles. These are also available on Soundcloud and feature writers such as Ben Clark, Juan Cobos Wilkins, Martirio, Silvia Grijalba and Raquel Lanseros. Youtube will also be offering concerts and shows that have been performed recently at the museum as part of the Cycle of Chamber Music, by Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga, choreographer and dancer Luz Arcas, and the Moreno Gistáin duo.

For youngsters, the Museo Picasso Málaga webpage has downloadable notebooks: Veo, veo 1,Veoveo 2 and Veoveo 3. The museum is also preparing online activities linked to the Genealogies of Art exhibition and the museum’s permanent collection so that children, youngsters and adults can all use readily available materials to take part from home, and follow the guidelines that have always been a feature of all educational programmes: look, think and create.
