CHICAGO, IL.- While the 57th Street Art Fair Committee officially canceled the 73rd annual in person Art Fair, the show will go on… online that is! By visiting www.57thstreetartfair.org, art aficionados will have the opportunity to learn about 57th St. Art Fair artists while being directed to their individual artist sites with works available for purchase.

“As the Midwest’s oldest juried art fair featuring nearly 200 artists, we aim to continue efforts in supporting our incredible artists,” says board member Catherine Slighton. “When the COVID-19 crisis hit, we had confirmed 200 artists. We know that this art season of cancellations will be hard hitting for them and it’s our utmost goal to support them while continuing to engage our community.”

This format will offer art lovers a fantastic opportunity to indefinitely view and shop art from around the country. It’s important to note that while the Committee is working to promote the artists’ original works of art (as required at their physical Fair), many individual artist websites sell reproductions so the Committee encourages potential buyers to work directly with artists.

Whether looking for innovative and gorgeous works of art in glass, jewelry, leather, photography, printmaking, painting, sculpture, wood, ceramics and fiber art – everyone is certain to find something special and one of a kind on the 57th St Art Fair virtual site!

The 57th Street Art Fair is a two-day outdoor celebration of the visual arts held in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, adjacent to the University of Chicago campus and President Barak Obama's home. Considered the oldest juried art fair in the Midwest, the fair typically features the work of nearly 200 exhibitors. Most are returning artists, but each year between 50 and 75 new exhibitors are invited to participate by a jury made up of collectors, critics, curators and artists. The goal of the 57th Street Art Fair is to provide a venue for creators of quality fine art and fine craft to meet with the art-buying public. The 57th Street Art Fair is an Illinois not for profit corporation organization and all proceeds are used to produce the annual Fair.
