Records set in $1.6 million Heritage Luxury Accessories Auction
An Hermès 30cm Black Togo Leather Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware drew 18 bids before it closed at $37,500.

DALLAS, TX.- Multiple records fell and an Hermès wicker picnic bag sold for $47,500 to lead Heritage Auctions’ Luxury Accessories Live Auction to $1,608,631.75 Oct. 4.

Offered at Heritage for the first time, the Hermès Jaune de Naples Swift Leather & Osier Wicker Mini Kelly Picnic with Palladium Hardware, drew nearly a dozen bids before finding a new home at more than double the low pre-auction estimate. Done in Fauve Barenia leather and Osier Wicker with Palladium hardware, it features one top handle and a flap top with a turnlock closure; the Fauve Chevre leather interior includes three slip pockets.

“The auction was spectacular! Outstanding lots were the Petit H Minaudière, the Kelly Mini Picnic and the Dalmatian Kelly,” Heritage Auctions Luxury Accessories Director Diane D’Amato said, “and I look forward to our Holiday sale having equally strong results in December!”

Hermès black Birkins enjoyed great success in this auction, showing a trend toward this classic and timeless neutral. Two Black 30cm Birkins had exceptional results, the first an Hermès 30cm Black Togo Leather Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware, which drew 18 bids before it closed at $37,500 and the second an Hermès 30cm Black Clemence Leather Birkin Bag with Rose Gold Hardware that sold for $30,000. Each had original estimates of $10,000-14,000.

Constance Alligator bags also had a strong showing. An iconic 24cm Matte Black Alligator Double Gusset Constance Bag sold for $35,000, above the $26,000-30,000 estimate, and a vibrant 24cm Matte Vert D'Eau Alligator Double Gusset Constance Bag sold for $30,000, within the estimate of $26,000-34,000.

Two other lots broke records in the auction: an Hermès 28cm Dalmatian Buffalo Leather Retourne Kelly Bag with Palladium Hardware went for $32,500, surpassing the previous standard by nearly $12,000, and an Hermès Petit H Shiny Blue Roi & Emerald Niloticus Crocodile and Noir Vache Hunter Leather Minaudière with Palladium Hardware brought $18,750, more than three times its low estimate.

Other top lots included, but were not limited to:

• An Hermès 60cm Miel Porosus Crocodile HAC Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware: finished at $43,750

• An Hermès 30cm Matte Black Niloticus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware drew a winning bid of $32,500

• An Hermès Limited Edition 50cm Bleu de Prusse Togo Leather "Endless Road" HAC Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware: $25,000

• An Hermès Matte Rouge H Niloticus Crocodile Kelly Pochette Bag with Palladium Hardware: $22,500
