Recent Work by Erwin Wurm.

CINCINNATI, OHIO.- The Contemporary Arts Center presents I Love My Time, I Don't Like My Time: Recent Work by Erwin Wurm, on view through June 12, 2005. Artist Erwin Wurm doesn't look like the type of man who would stick things up his nose. Nor does he look like the type of man who would let food dribble out of his mouth like an infant learning to chew.
These are the type of absurd scenarios that comprise Wurm's exhibition at the CAC I Love My Time, I Don't Like My Time: Recent Work by Erwin Wurm from April 2, through June 12.
The exhibition is a comprehensive survey, highlighting more than 10 years of clever, bizarre and humorous work. It includes a range of works that explore how sculpture can be created and viewed. Part of the exhibition invites the visitor to participate in the creation of temporary sculpture by combining their bodies with a variety of common objects according to the artist's instructional drawings. It will also include photographs and film clips of past sculptural installations in addition to Wurm's monumental Fat House and and a scale model of its companion, Fat Car.
Born in 1954, Wurm lives and works in Vienna. He has garnered an international reputation for creating work that challenges traditional notions of sculpture, photography, performance art and drawing. Often referred to as "behavioral sculpture," Wurm's work is concerned with finding ways to extend the dialogue of pioneering performance and conceptual art of the 1960s into formal works of sculpture.
This exhibition, organized by the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and curated by Ren de Guzman, is accompanied by a comprehensive catalogue.
