The Other Art Fair.

SYDNEY.- Drop-in life drawing, surprise urban interventions and live tattooing are just some of what’s on offer at The Other Art Fair Sydney 2021 autumn edition, to be held from 18 to 21 March at Barangaroo Reserve’s The Cutaway. 110 emerging artists have been selected to exhibit, with more than 70 of these artists making their debut at The Other Art Fair Sydney.

Presented by Saatchi Art, The Other Art Fair provides visitors with the unique opportunity to discover and buy contemporary art direct from emerging artists in a fun and relaxed environment.

This edition of the fair will be followed by The Other Art Fair Sydney: Virtual Edition from 23 to 28 March 2021, which will take place in a virtual environment set within The Cutaway. The Guest Artist for the Virtual Edition is singer-songwriter and artist Brandon Boyd (Incubus), whose works are being showcased to an Australian audience for the first time.

Set against the spectacular backdrop of the spacious, semi-open air venue The Cutaway, The Other Art Fair Sydney will operate in accordance with its COVID-19 Safety Plan, which has been approved by the NSW Government.

Public Program

Features at The Other Art Fair Sydney include:

• Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School: The Sydney branch of Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School, the life drawing event founded in Williamsburg in 2005, will set up camp at the fair with performances and live drop-in drawing sessions.

• Interactive digital art: Witness the magic of Marc-O-Matic, one of the world’s best digital artists, who transforms static imagery into elaborate experiential art worlds that can be explored in virtual and augmented reality.

• Urban interventions: Michael Pederson, aka Miguel Marquez, creates art outside the confines of the gallery. In the past, Miguel’s humorous works have included ‘personal space’ preference cards and oversized emergency panic buttons hidden in local parks. Keep your eyes peeled at the fair for his latest work.

• Tattooing on site: Hand-poked tattoo artist Ink Sphinx will take up residence at the fair, with tattoos starting from $100 and on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Live artwork: Watch artist Shannon Crees create a digital animated artwork live.

Exhibiting Artists

The Other Art Fair Sydney 2021 autumn edition will present the works of 110 emerging artists as selected by an accomplished selection committee. The Selection Committee for this edition includes curator and creative producer Sebastian Goldspink, festival director of Art Month Sydney Emma O'Neill, editor of Art Edit magazine Rose of Sharon Leake and Saatchi Art’s Chief Curator and VP, Art Advisory Rebecca Wilson. Each edition of The Other Art Fair is curated by a new selection committee, providing a fresh perspective on emerging contemporary artists and guaranteeing visitors a unique experience at each fair.
