MIAMI, FLORIDA.- The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University in association with Commission Chairman Joe Martinez and Miami-Dade County Public Schools present Creative Visions 2005, the second annual scholastic exhibition of student work from District 11 public schools. The opening reception will be held Thursday, May 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. A presentation of awards by Commission Chairman Joe Martinez, M-DCPS Arts Supervisor Ray Azcuy and Dr. Patricia Frost from the Frost Art Museum, will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Frost Art Museum.

Stacey de la Grana, Acting Director of the Frost Art Museum, explains “This annual exhibit is a unique partnership between the museum, the District 11 Commissioner’s office, the Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Miami-Dade County Public Schools. We are pleased to invite the local community to the Frost Art Museum, while actively supporting the creative endeavors of the district’s youth.”

Numerous pieces of two-dimensional artwork from each elementary, middle and high school within District 11 were selected by a panel of judges for display; and the top three works of art in each level will receive a scholarship to an arts camp for the summer.

Commission Chairman Martinez remarks, “This provides an incredible opportunity for the community to get to know the Frost Art Museum and Florida International University and what these institutions have to offer.”

Creative Visions will be on display May 12th to May 19th. All museum events are free and open to the public. The Frost Art Museum is located in PC110 in the Charles Perry building, SW 107th Ave and 8th St at the Florida International University, University Park campus.
