HONG KONG.- Christie’s Hong Kong Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art auctions will take place on 28 May. This season presents two dedicated themed auctions - Chinese Jade Carvings From A Distinguished European Collection and Classical Chinese Furniture From Heveningham Hall - as well as the highly anticipated Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art sale, which will showcase the ever-evolving aesthetics of celebrated Chinese art forms through specially themed sections.

Marco Almeida, Head of Chinese Works of Art Department, Hong Kong comments: “We are privileged this season to continue our track record in bringing the very best private and institutional collections to auction with a sensational series of standalone sales, including an esteemed group of Classical Chinese furniture from Heveningham Hall, as well as the second installment of our successful collaboration with The Springfield Museums. Christie’s once again unites global collectors in their quest to enrich their collections with culturally important works from the extraordinary offering this season.”

Classical Chinese Furniture From Heveningham Hall is the rarest and most exquisite single-owner Chinese furniture collection in this field that Christie’s Hong Kong has had the pleasure of offering in recent years. The dedicated single-owner sale epitomises the golden era of Chinese furniture collecting and is led by A Magnificent And Exceedingly Rare Huanghuali Folding Horseshoe-Back Armchair, Jiaoyi. Spanning millennia, exceptional jade carvings continue to command superlative prices at auction. Led by an Imperial Finely-Carved and Reticulated Spinach-green Jade Brush Pot from the Qianlong Period (1736-1795), Chinese Jade Carvings From A Distinguished European Collection will present 30 lots dating from the Ming and Qing dynasties.

The Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art sale offers a unique opportunity for collectors and connoisseurs to acquire fine and rare ceramics, lacquer, cloisonné enamel, archaic bronzes and Buddhist art, among other works.

In recognition of Robert Chang's enduring legacy and contribution to the connoisseurship of Chinese art, we are honoured to present An Important and Extremely Rare Blue and White 'Kui Dragon' Jar during the auction. Proceeds from the sale of the lot will benefit The Robert Chang Art Education Charitable Foundation. (Please click HERE for full press release).

The sale will also present specially curated sections including Dragons From The Empire: Imperial Ceramics from The Yidetang Collection, a collection of imperial porcelains led by A Very Rare Gilt-Decorated Celadon-Glazed Ground ‘Dragon’ Jar and Cover; Purity and Brilliance: A Selection From The Zhuyuetang Collection, a spectacular group of monochrome ceramic masterpieces, the majority of which date to the Ming and Qing dynasties, highlighted by A Fine Small Pair of Clair-De-Lune Glazed Dishes; as well as Rare Archaic Bronzes and Ceramics From A Private Asian Collection, a group of vessels primarily made during the Shang dynasty, featuring An Exceptionally Rare Bronze Ritual Owl-Form Wine Vessel And Cover, Xiao You.
