PARIS.- Christies Design sales in Paris totaled 9,384,875 over two live sales including De la fonction la collection : Stphane Danant, une passion pour le design et lart franais des annes 1955-1975. With remarkable results and several world records, collectors from all around the world were presented with very rare and iconic pieces.
Agathe de Bazin, Head of Sales : In line with the prestigious collections offered by Christies Paris this season, we are delighted to have presented Stphane Danant's private collection. His stunning selection of pieces by French designers from the second half of the 20th century attracted considerable interest from international collectors and achieved an incredible number of 11 world auction records for some of the most emblematic French designers represented in the sale. Likewise, the strong results of our Design sale, which attracted bidders from 25 countries, demonstrates once again Christie's Paris' central place in the global market and the continuing appetite for iconic figures such as the Giacometti brothers and the Lalanne couple.

The Design sale totaled 7,712,375, with 92% sold by value. The sale was led by an iconic Mouton de Laine by Franois-Xavier Lalanne which achieved an outstanding 860,000. Other highlights included a exceptional table SAM TROPIQUE N.503 by Jean Prouv, which sold for 275,000, a Carcasse table by Diego Giacometti which achieved 524,000 and a table lamp Bougeoir by the same artist sold for 187,500 more than doubling the pre-sale estimate.

Following the success of the private sales collection in Paris, De la fonction la collection : Stphane Danant, une passion pour le design et lart franais des annes 1955-1975 attracted buyers from all around the world and totaled 1,672,500. With 92% sold by value, Stphane Danant's fine collection of French designers creations achieved strong results including an outstanding number of 11 world auction records established. Among these incredible results, the unique piece Expansion by Csar, was the top lot of this sale and sold for 312,500. Exceptional pieces by Ren-Jean Caillette, Franois Arnal, Etienne Fermigier, Raoul Raba, Henri Lestre, Jean-Pierre Vitrac, Mathieu Lehanneur, Jacques Henri Varichon, Jean Dudon and Olivier Mourgue.
