BRYN MAWR, PA.- The American College will host the 2005 Annual Juried Exhibition by members of The Art League from June 1 to September 6. The event will be held in The College’s Gregg Conference Center Gallery. A reception in honor of the artists will be held June 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in The College’s Gregg Conference Center Gallery. The exhibition has been a tradition at The American College for 20 years.

Gerry Givenish, founder of The Painted Bride Art Center and its director for 30 years is the exhibition juror. Givenish awarded the following artists with prizes: First Prize to Ann Simon of Wynnewood, Pa. for “Pink House”; Second Prize to Peggy Haines of St.Davids, Pa. for “Memorable Garden”; Third Prize to Deena Ball of Havertown, Pa. for “Haverford College Show”. Honorable mentions were awarded to: Diane Hark of Wynnewood, Pa. for “Philadelphia Mummers”; Carolyn Mangan of West Chester, Pa. for “The Green Hat”; Lois Jones of Media, Pa. for “Shy Hiding Blooms”; Louise Herring of Narberth, Pa. for “Vespa Hill, III”; May Wells of Springfield, Pa. for “Reflections;”; Alice Dustin of Ardmore, Pa. for “Pink Hydrangeas.”

More than 60 paintings will be on display in the gallery. Artist mediums included oil, pastel, and watercolor. “The artists are leading talents and should prove to be very collectable,” said Marjorie Fletcher, curator of the gallery.
