LONDON, ENGLAND.- The London Consortium and the Institute of Contemporary Art invite applications for a new PhD Studentship in the history of the ICA.
The Studentship is funded through the Arts and Humanities Research Council Collaborative Doctoral Award scheme and provides tuition fees for a UK or EU student to undertake a PhD with the Consortium. If the award holder meets UK residency criteria they will also receive a maintenance grant from the AHRC (in 05/06 this will be 14,500 GBP).
The Studentship holder will pursue research into the history of the Institute of Contemporary Art. They will also work as a Research Assistant for the ICA in the preparation of the events and publication planned to mark the institution's 60 year anniversary in 2007.
Applicants will be expected to have a strong academic record, experience of undertaking original research, most particularly of working with raw archive materials, and a knowledge of and interest in the contemporary art scene. Some curatorial experience would also be beneficial. To be eligible for the Studentship applicants must have or be completing a Masters degree. The Studentship is only open to UK and EU applicants in accordance with AHRC rules.
Further details and information on how to apply can be found on the Consortium's website at:

The deadline for applications is 31st May 2005.
The Studentship will begin in October 2005 and the PhD thesis must be completed by September 2008.
