HONG KONG.- Phillips will present 24/7 from 21-28 July, an online-only auction featuring over 30 works by emerging artists alongside established names. Since its debut in 2019, Phillips’ annual 24/7 online auction assembled by its Asia team has had great success in demonstrating the resilience and fortitude of the middle market, with each year seeing an increasing number of new clients to the Phillips digital platforms. On the heels of Phillips’ 100% sold, ‘white glove’ 20th Century &Contemporary Art Spring sales held in Hong Kong last month, driven by Asia’s strong demand for contemporary art and unprecedented online participation, 24/7 is aiming to meet collectors’ ever-growing appetite for works by the most sought-after international contemporary artists in the market.

Highlighting the sale is Mr.’s Happy, an intricately painted sculpture illustrating the world-famous American singer and songwriter Pharrell Williams. Mr. transforms Pharrell into the subject of his sculpture, instantly recognisable as the singer by his signature fedora hat and bow tie. Additionally, the title of his work derives from the title of his hit song, Happy. As not only a figure who has shaped popular culture himself, but also a collector, Pharrell has long collected Mr.’s brightly-coloured oeuvre celebrating Japanese youth culture, establishing a relationship with the artist that dates back years. Other notable highlights include collaborative works of art by the pioneer of Superflat movement, Takashi Murakami and Off-White founder Virgil Abloh, as well as works by emerging talents such as Maria Farrar, Yukimasa Ida, Edgar Plans, Matias Sanchez, Todd James, Hopare, Chen Yingjie, and Okokume.

Bidding begins on 21 July 12 am HKT and will begin closing on 28 July at 6 pm HKT. The entire sale will be available to browse on Phillips.com and Phillips App.
