Rare and elegant 1965 Iso Rivolta to be offered at Ivoire Troyes
Iso Rivolta, IR 300, 2-door-4-seater GT Coupé from October 26, 1965. Model shown in the 1965 Turin Motor Show. Starting Price €40,000.

TROYES.- The sale of this stunning car will be conducted by Ivoire Troyes on September 4 next at their auction room in the city of Troyes (‘Grand Est’ Region of France). The car is estimated to start with bids of €40,000.

The undbouted star of the sale is this rare and elegant 1965 Iso Rivolta, straight from the heart of the 1960s. Iso Rivolta was an Italian maker that epitomized the golden age of the Italian automotive industry. Like Ferrucio Lamborghini, Renzo Rivolta wanted to challenge Ferrari.

His ambition was to design a sporty GT combining the practicality, comfort and robustness of American cars with the performance and style of Italian vehicles. The resulting macchina was highly appreciated by a demanding clientele looking for GT cars with high-end finishes and capable of exceptional speeds. Stars in various domains loved it: Johnny Hallyday with his Iso A3 C, John Lennon and Alain Delon with their Iso Fidia, the Aga Khan, Michèle Morgan and Jean-Marie Perrier in France with their Iso Rivolta GTs.

A ‘time capsule’... eligible for the Le Mans Classic The Iso Rivolta GT 300 is a luxury Bertone-designed coupé with a V8 engine from the Chevrolet Corvette.

The “300” as in 300 hp offered exceptional performance and comfort in the 1960s, and it still does today. Only 797 were produced and it is believed that 300 to 400 still exist worldwide.

The bodywork of the one offered in our September 4 sale has never been restored. With its original engine and its clear provenance (4 owners in 56 years), it is exquisite in authenticity with the same robe it wore on the stand of the 1965 Turin Motor Show. A veritable ‘time capsule’ with its superb patina, its elegant design, its dashboard with numerous dials, its wide thin-rimmed steering wheel, its upholstery sewn and assembled by hand... and its altimeter, which makes it unique... if it wasn’t already!

ISO RIVOLTAs on the market...

Rare but long-shunned by purists who saw it as a ‘hybrid’ car, the Iso Rivolta brand is now taking its revenge on history. Today Iso Rivoltas are sold between enthusiasts who spread the word on an international market, just like Ferraris and other Maseratis.

This lovely Iso – with its €14,000 of recent invoices and its incredible patina – is being offered with a starting price of €40,000. In recent years – spurred by the equally rare Iso Grifo model that can fetch over €500,000 – the value of the Iso GT 300 has risen steadily. An original soft-top model recently sold for €145,000 in Europe and, in France, an Iso Rivolta GT needing substantial restoration changed hands at Artcurial (Trigano collection) for €84,000. The more recent Lele and Fidia models are beginning to follow the same value accretion trend as the earlier models. We believe a beautiful GT Iso Rivolta, with certain options, could sell for around €200,000 by 2030. Driving around in an Iso Rivolta in 2021 is an elegant and original way to pursue the Dolce Vita.
