GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY in Glen Cove, NY will present the Asian Art Collection of Congressman Lester L. Wolff at a very special online only auction on Saturday, August 7th with unique Asian art and outdoor bronze taking the spotlight.

Renowned American Statesman, diplomat, civil rights proponent, businessman, and philanthropist, Lester L. Wolff, served as a vocal member of the United States House of Representatives from Long Island from 1965 until 1981, where he distinguished himself as an expert in Asian affairs, eventually meeting with the Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping and authoring The Taiwan Relations Act. After leaving Congress, Wolff remained committed to Asian relations, serving as President of the International Trade and Development Agency and acting as Director of the Pacific Community Institute at Touro College.

At his home in East Norwich, NY, Wolff displayed an array of Asian fine and decorative arts including painted scrolls, floor screens, a pair of carved doors, furniture, devotional sculptures, ceremonial objects, and much more. Some highlights of his Asian collection that have made their way into this auction include a pair of large vintage Chinese Cloisonne enamel horses, each with bright enamels. (33" H x 38" W x 11" D). Estimate $3,000-$5,000, a Chinese porcelain blue & white charger, Chinese blue and white porcelain dragon charger, decorated on both sides. (27" Diam.). Estimate $1,000-$1,500, a pair of large Rose Medallion ginger jar vases, rose medallion covered ginger jars, decorated with scenes of birds and warriors, with lion mounted tops, (32" H x 15" Diam.) Estimate $2,000-$3,000, an early Chinese Porcelain Tile, signed, depicting a beautiful story, possibly asking for a hand in marriage. (12 3/4" x 18 1/2"). Estimate $800-$1,200, a 4-piece vintage Chinese Parlor Suite, Chinese carved 4-piece parlor suite with yellow Chinese upholstery. (Sofa: 30" H x 93" W x 22" D; Chair: 30" H x 29" W x 22" D). Estimate $800-$1,200 and a pair of large antique Kutani Chinese vases, with dragon mounts. (33 1/4" H x 15 1/2" W). Estimate $800-$1,200.

In addition, the collection features a very impressive selection of large outdoor Bronze statues including a pair of monumental outdoor bronze Foo Dogs, Asian foo dogs made of bronze, the female holding a baby, the male resting on a ball. (40" H x 32" W x 18" D). Estimate $2,000-$3,000, a large Chinese antique bronze outdoor fountain, portraying a Quanyin figure, with dragon supports, on paw feet with faces. (64" H x 36" D). Estimate $3,000-$5,000, a monumental outdoor Bronze garden fountain, signed S Keliam, featuring a classical putti boy with three mythological dolphin figures around, which are spouts. (43" H x 42" W x 31" D). Estimate $2,500-$3,500, a monumental outdoor Asian bronze warrior on horseback, on a wood base. (52" H x 36" W x 18" D). Estimate $2,500-$3,500, a bronze outdoor statue of Boy with Rings, a boy with suspenders playing with rings/hoops. (49" H x 31" W x 25" D). Estimate $800-$1,200 and a monumental outdoor antique Southeast Asian bronze bust, Buddhist bust on cement base. (42" H x 18" Diam). Estimate $1,000-$2,000.

This auction of the Collection of Congressman Lester L. Wolff is one of many Roland Auctions’ single-owner, specialized sales throughout the year, in addition to monthly estate sales.
