Police Find Stolen Goya Work in Montenegro



MONTENEGRO.- Police in Montenegro have found the painting titled Counnt Ugolino by Francisco Goya that had been stolen from a gallery in Turin in December 2001. The work had been acquired for £140 in 1999 as an anonymous work, but experts later attributed it to Goya and it was insured for £277,000. Police are holdng two brothers for the theft. The work portrays the story of Count Ugolino della Gherardesca from Dante’s Divine Comedy.
