PONTIAC, MI.- The Museum of New Art will present Meditations on Movement, on view July 16 thru August 13. The seduction of escapism, the pursuit of altered states, it is in our nature to desire experiences that take us beyond our bodies and remove us from the everyday. Fueled by the passion of imagination and innovation, desperation, or perhaps just the oppressive banality of the ordinary, we long for these experiences. We desire to break from the limitations of our body: to transform into something beyond ourselves. The body is a vessel of experience, physically tied to its surrounding, but able to transcend these surroundings through the senses, the construction of memory and through fantasy.
