Fine Jewelry and Luxury Accessories auction presents timeless classics and fresh-to-market showstoppers

PHILADELPHIA, PA.- On Thursday, October 28, Freeman’s presents a Fine Jewelry and Luxury Accessories auction beginning at 12pm, featuring 74 lots of jewelry, handbags, and fine accessories.

The auction’s highlight is a shiny black Crocodile Porosus Hèrmes Birkin 35 bag, a rare and valuable example of the iconic design (Lot 74; estimate: $25,000-40,000). In excellent condition and constructed of the most exotic material offered by Hèrmes, this handbag is a must-have addition for any serious handbag collector. Fine Jewelry and Luxury Accessories also features a suite of leather Birkin 35 handbags in a number of colorways (Lots 70-73; estimate: $7,000-9,000 each).

A number of pieces confirm Freeman’s premier place in presenting signed works by leading houses and designers, from an eye-catching Cartier diamond, turquoise, and gold brooch with matching ear clips (Lot 21; estimate: $25,000-35,000) to an elegant diamond and gold Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet (Lot 26; estimate: $40,000-60,000) and an opal, diamond, and gold Tiffany & Co. pendant (Lot 64; estimate: $20,000-30,000).

Fine Jewelry and Luxury Accessories continues to be a destination auction for timeless classics, like the diamond solitaire ring; two highlight diamond solitaires include Lot 67, featuring an emerald-cut diamond (estimate: $20,000-30,000), and Lot 68, with a striking pear-shaped diamond (estimate: $10,000-15,000). Many of these classic works are both showstopping statement pieces and suitable for everyday wear.

Two highlights fit more for display than wear include an unusual and rare Halberstadt gold, diamond, and synthetic gemstone model train set (Lot 18; estimate: $8,000-12,000). Carrying “cargo” of brightly hued gemstones, this miniature model is a charming addition to a jewel-lover’s collection. Another piece, a Fabergé gold-and-sapphire case, was constructed circa 1890 and retains contemporary appeal with its sapphire clover accents and understated hammered gold exterior (Lot 33; estimate: $7,000-9,000).

Freeman’s continues to demonstrate its strengths in the presentation of fine jewelry, handbags, and luxury accessories; earlier this year, a Jewelry and Watches auction saw many works far exceed their pre-sale estimates following competitive bidding. A fancy light yellow diamond ring achieved $308,700, a diamond rivière necklace sold for $59,850, and a Van Cleef & Arpels gold and diamond bracelet nearly doubled its pre-sale high estimate to achieve $56,700.
