All there is to know about healthy buildings

Healthy buildings are structures that use different designs and technologies to create a healthy and happy life for the occupants. Since Covid-19 struck us, our lives have changed. People still don’t want to go back to their offices, fearing they might contract the virus.

This is where healthy buildings play a vital role. Constructors have now realized that the way they construct the building can heavily affect the health of the people using the building. Thus, they have started using innovative designs to construct buildings.

Read this article, and you will find some astonishing details about healthy buildings.

What certifications do healthy buildings need?

Healthy buildings need three types of certifications to ensure they are healthy for their occupants. These certifications include WELL, BREEAM, and LEED. These certifications check various aspects of a building and then tell which building is better than the other.

All three certifications have different criteria to assess the buildings. LEED checks the energy efficiency of a building, BREEAM checks the environmental sustainability and general health & safety for the people.

Every certification provides a building with a different level. LEED and WELL give gold, silver, or platinum certifications to buildings. While BREEAM gives buildings certification with 1 out of 5 designations. These include outstanding, which is the highest level, and passing, which is the lowest level.

Environmental research and construction technology

Healthy buildings mean constructing them, keeping all the future plans in mind. To build healthy buildings, we need data analysis. This can help us plan the structures for these buildings. These buildings are built with in-depth analysis of data, inspections, and automation systems.

Environmental, Social, and Governance Data

ESG data assesses a project’s cultural, regulatory, and physical impacts. It helps construct in such a way that the future plans are well taken care of. As a result, this brings a positive outcome for the community.

Building Information Modeling Technology

BIM technology makes the management of the building easier by making the elements of the project centralized by using digital means. It helps make buildings environment friendly and helps buildings become healthy buildings.

To wrap it up!

Healthy buildings are without doubt the future of construction and buildings. Especially after the global pandemic hit us, people have started realizing the importance of these buildings.

Therefore, a lot of research is being done to make buildings healthy. Apart from that, to complete this task, different types of tech are being used as well. All of this combined will bring a healthier future for us!
