Prince stage-worn custom-made suit among Marvels of Modern Music up for auction
First worn by Prince during his Musicology Live 2004ever Tour, then used as a design template for his 2005 Oscar night tuxedo.

BOSTON, MASS.- Filled with over 600 chart-topping items from across the decades, RR Auction's Marvels of Modern Music auction will be a smash hit!

Top lots include a stage-worn outfit from Prince's Musicology Tour. Brilliant custom-made two-piece suit worn on stage by Prince during the Musicology Live 2004ever Tour, consisting of a red jacket with peaked lapels, three front buttons, a single vent in the back, and a pair of crisp off-white slacks. This two-piece suit derives from the personal collection of custom tailor Maurice Hood. Hood provided the 4 ply purple silk tuxedo that Prince wore at the 77th Academy Awards when he presented the Best Original Song Oscar on February 27, 2005. A brilliant stage-worn and photo-matched offering that exists as a progenitor of Prince's ever-interesting sartorial choices.

A Please Please Me album fully signed by the Beatles. Summer 1963 third pressing of the Beatles album. The consignor indicates that the signatures were obtained at the Adelphi Cinema in Slough, England, in 1963—the Beatles played the Adelphi twice in 1963: on May 18, four days before the release of Please Please Me, and the first night of the group's breakout tour with Roy Orbison; and on November 5, a day after their memorable Royal Command Performance at London's Prince of Wales Theatre in the presence of the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret. Any album signed by all four members is highly desirable—roughly 75 signed copies of this title are known to exist.

A large Island Records poster signed by Bob Marley and The Wailers. Original color Island Records promotional poster for the Catch a Fire album by Bob Marley and the Wailers, signed prominently on the reverse in ballpoint, "JAH RASTA FARI, PROSPERITY, Bob Marley," "Aston Family Man Barrett," "Peter Tosh, Love Jah," and "Bunny." One of the largest examples of Marley's signature that we have offered, signed just weeks after Catch a Fire's release.

A signed Nirvana 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' picture disc. The fully signed picture disc for the Nirvana grunge anthem—"I am a rock star, Kurdt." Boasting bold autographs—with a playfully vain 'rock star' addition from Cobain—against what is arguably the band's most iconic album cover, this is an essential Nirvana-signed piece dating to the hit single's 30th anniversary. Rolling Stone Magazine recently named it the 5th best song of all time.

And a super rare autographed Ray Charles photo. Exceedingly rare vintage glossy 8 x 10 close-up photo of Charles in his trademark sunglasses. Accompanied by a letter of provenance stating that it originated from the collection of Derek Mills, an executive of BBC Radio 2. Ray Charles is extremely rare in authentic material and virtually unheard of in signed photographs.

Other icons represented in the sale include Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Who, Queen, Bob Dylan, Billie Holliday, and Elvis Presley.

The Marvels of Modern Music will conclude on November 18.
