African American Museum Hosts Cocktail Reception in December

The AAMBC (African American Museum of Bucks County) in Pennsylvania hosts a cocktail reception on December 2, 2021, from 6 pm to 9 pm. It is the county’s only museum dedicated to the history and appreciation of African Americans and their contribution to its development. Established in 2014, this museum is run by a team of volunteers who work tirelessly to keep its doors open and share its valuable exhibitions and artifacts.

Funds needed
The AAMBC does not have a permanent home. Instead, it is a traveling museum, setting up displays and exhibitions at schools, libraries, senior centers, and other museums. Parx, a local business and operator of one of Pennsylvania’s most successful online casinos, has stepped in to help the AAMBC raise much-needed funds. Parx will work in partnership with the AAMBC to host a reception in honor of this worthy cause.

Bucks County authorities recently granted the AAMBC a lease at Boone Farm in Middletown Township. The museum plans to set up a permanent space to display its artifacts and raise awareness about past and present African Americans who have contributed to Bucks County’s development and success. Funds raised at this upcoming cocktail reception will be used to renovate the building and improve its infrastructure.

Partnership
Parx is co-hosting and presenting this cocktail reception to help the AAMBC achieve its goal. Tickets cost $150 each, and additional funds will be raised through a cash bar and silent auction for music lovers and art connoisseurs alike. In true Parx style, the cash bar will include a variety of exotic and popular cocktails, beer, and other beverages, served by professional bar staff.

Guests will be treated to tasty hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment during the reception, free to mingle with others and view museum exhibits and artifacts firsthand. Honored guests include those individuals being honored this year, including Dr. Marion Lane, a local professor and historian, and Claire Smith, an award-winning sports journalist. Family members of the late Sam Snipes, Esq. will accept his AAMBC honor on his behalf.

Mutual benefits
Both Parx and the AAMBC are delighted by this chance to work in close cooperation. Parx’s head of Diversity and Community Development is passionate about giving back to the community that hosts its brick-and-mortar operations. Parx is proud to associate with such a worthy cause.

As for the AAMBC, its President and Executive Director, Linda Salley, is grateful to Parx and its other supporters for helping it obtain a permanent home. Her thanks also extend to Bucks County Commissioners who made the lease on Boone Farm a reality.

Driving community spirit
Like most other arts and cultural endeavors, the AAMBC was hard-hit by Covid-19 and restrictions imposed by authorities that made its operations substantially challenging. It has resulted in several setbacks, but the AAMBC looks set for bigger and better things, planning to open its facility fully refurbished and repurposed by early 2022. It is reliant on support from Bucks County residents and corporate partners to ensure this dream becomes a reality.
