Different Types of Modern Playgrounds Popular and Enjoyed by Kids

Playgrounds are ways for kids to play while also developing their abilities and skills. They have been around since 1886 when the first playground was built in Boston. They have become a part of our community.

The outdoor playgrounds are important, as now-a-days kids prefer to play games on their laptops, play station or PC. With the help of outdoor commercial playground equipment, the community can design and build unique and fun playgrounds for the kids to enjoy in.

Some of the latest modern playgrounds are:

● Theme based playgrounds:
The top trends in modern playgrounds include theme based or destination playground. The playground can look the way you want it. It can be unique, traditional and provide an enjoyable experience for children and their families.

Few examples on how you can design the community playgrounds are:
⮚ A farm themed ground with tractors and barns, along with animal theme; will surely be educational as well as entertaining.
⮚ A castle themed ground will enhance the imagination of being in their own fairytale pretending to be princess, prince, fairy or even dragon.
⮚ A pirate ship themed ground with ropes and swings; climbing on the mast.
It can be designed to educate about the culture and history of the community, like a train themed playground with miniature train station and trains for kids to play with. Exquisite destination playgrounds can also become a tourist attraction in a community.

● Inclusive Play
This type of playground is designed for kids of all age, stages and abilities to play together. Inclusive play space has following features:
⮚ It includes sensory experiences to help develop kid’s abilities, motor skills and cognitive functioning by stimulating their senses.
⮚ It provides different levels for children as they grow up with new equipment. It also offers group play to develop the social skills of children.
⮚ It also incorporates cosy spaces, pathways and fences to make kids with sensory disorder feel comfortable as they play without feeling overwhelmed.

● Sensory Play
Sensory play helps in developing all the senses; touch, sight, smell and hearing. Adding shapes and textures to your playground design can help engage these senses. It helps developing their language, motor skills, brain development and self-calming skills.

● Musical Element
Adding a musical element in the playground like chimes, bells, drums and keyboards can helps kids in being creative while experimenting with the instruments. Having musical exposure helps kids later in life with increase in IQ, higher brain activity and also language development.

● Climbing Walls
Climbing walls when made fun for kids, can benefit them immensely. It helps develop their problem-solving skills along with understanding how to overcome challenges. It is a great source of exercise, engaging different types of muscles all at once.
There are multiple benefits of playing outside such as development of physical, emotional and social attributes. A playground designed with traditional and cultural style with hint of modern element can elevate the experience of children.
