CEDAR FALLS, IOWA.-The James & Meryl Hearst Center for the Arts presents Art in Medicine: Illustrations of Human Anatomy, on view through October 16, 2005. This exhibition will be a survey of an artistic tradition with a long history that is rarely displayed in an art gallery setting. "Art in Medicine" will feature a range of styles and media used in medical illustration including the traditional pen and ink and airbrush to new works in digital media. Two works in this exhibition will be selected by a jury of professionals and will be recognized with awards of excellence. This exhibition is a collaboration between the Hearst Center for the Arts and the Iowa State BPMI program.
This exhibition will be a unique educational opportunity for art and science classes from Iowa elementary schools, high schools and colleges. Most importantly "Art in Medicine: Illustrations of Human Anatomy " will be a celebration of an extraordinary and unique field in the fine arts.
