GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY in Glen Cove, NY presented their highly successful Spring Multiple Estates auction on April 23rd, 2022, a fresh-to-market sale of Fine Art, Collectibles, Furniture, Antiques, Silver, Decorative Arts and Jewelry, all curated from prominent East Coast estates and private collectors all over the Northeast.

Restored 1920’s & 1930’s motorcars, a selection of Demetre Chiparus bronze sculptures from the same era and French Art Deco furniture pieces all shared the spotlight in the highly-stylized auction.

Leading the April auction was a three-car collection of restored vintage automobiles from 1929 and 1931. The cars belonged to a U.S. collector of classic cars in and all three were purchased by another serious collector in Philadelphia. These included a rare 1929 gray Nash 460 Coupe, Provenance: purchased at auction in California and restored by White Glove Restorations in La Crosse Wisconsin by Mr. Richard Blomquist. In restored condition, which sold for $21,250, a 1931 ivory Buick Sport Roadster. Provenance: purchased at auction in California. In restored condition, selling for $21,250 and a 1931 red Oldsmobile F31, restored by an Olds collector in Maryland. In restored condition, selling for $18,750.

Also taking the spotlight was an exquisite collection of seven Demetre Chiparus (Romanian, 1886-1947) bronze sculptures, sold individually, which included "Starfish", patinated, gilt and cold painted bronze figure of a dancer, on a marble base, circa 1925. Old Christie's auction label underneath. Independently appraised and verified to be original by a well known Chiparus appraiser. [18" H x 7 1/4" W x 3 1/2" D], selling for $11,875, "Solo (Les Girls)" patinated, gilt and cold painted bronze figure of dancers, on a marble base, circa 1925. Independently appraised and verified to be original by a well known Chiparus appraiser. [19" H x 7" W x 4" D], which sold for $11,250 and "Vested Dancer", patinated, gilt and cold painted bronze figure of a dancer, on a marble base, circa 1925. Independently appraised and verified to be original by a well known Chiparus appraiser. [21" H x 7 1/2" W x 3 1/4" D], which went for $9,375. A gentleman collector in Long Island purchased four of the seven offered, with the remaining three going to other buyers.

In the contemporary art arena, another top seller was the Victor Vasarelly (French/Hungarian, 1906-1997), Aluminum sculpture titled “Kroa”, 1970, A.P. edition, screen print in colors on anodized aluminum. Comes with COA from Vasarely Center. [19 5/8" x 19 5/8" x 19 5/8"], which sold for $13,750.

Other higher end items, all French, were a French Art Deco-Style Iron & Wood Table, Art Deco-style modern circular table with a mahogany top above an open-work drum-form base. (30" H x 35 1/2" Diam.), selling for $11,875, a pair of Maison Jansen French Tables, faux tortoise and inlaid faux ivory inlay tables; stamped Jansen, which sold for $8,750 and a pair of French Art Deco Leaf Boudoir Chairs, the back carved in the shape of a leaf, going for $4375.

After more than four decades based in Manhattan, Roland Auctions relocated to Long Island’s North Shore, the historic “Gold Coast” in 2018 where they also do auction consignments and offer appraisals.
