LA CONNER, WA.-The board of trustees is pleased to announce the selection of Gregory M. Robinson as the new Executive Director to take the helm at the Museum of Northwest Art. Robinson's experience includes more than 20 years of nonprofit organizations. He has managed million-dollar budgets and led successful fund-raising campaigns that included winning grants from private foundations and government sources.

Twenty people applied for the position at MoNA, mostly from the Northwest, but one was from Hawaii and one was from as far away as Austria. The field of applicants was narrowed to three finalists. Robinson's professional experience combined with his arts background made him a standout.

"Greg's knowledge of, and passion for, Northwest art made him an especially strong candidate," said Gretchen McCauley, president of MoNA's board of trustees.

Robinson is currently the Director of the William Traver Gallery, and was responsible for expanding the gallery from Seattle to Tacoma.

From 1995 to 2002 he was Executive Director of Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, managing a $2 million annual budget and a $1 million annual fund-raising goal.

His earlier experience included a stint as Facilities Planning Director for the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, where he managed a $240 million modernization of the 725-bed facility.

From 1985 to 1991 he worked at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. His duties included operations and facilities planning for the 1,100-bed academic hospital and oversight of a $500 million modernization program.

Robinson earned a Master of Public Administration degree from New York University (1984), and a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Health Services degree from the University of Washington (1981).
