MIAMI, FLA.- New Art Dealers Alliance and Pérez Art Museum Miami announced the selection of the fifth annual NADA Acquisition Gift for PAMM, an acquisition gift for the museum’s permanent collection. PAMM Associate Curator Jennifer Inacio and Assistant Curator Maritza Lacayo have selected Patrick Dean Hubbell’s You Keep Our Spirit Safe Between All Within the Day to Night, 2022 from Nina Johnson.

“We are thrilled to acquire a work at NADA for the fifth year and we are looking forward to having Patrick Dean Hubbell in PAMM’s collection! We are fascinated by his practice, which makes reference to his indigenous identity while also amplifying aspects of indigenous contemporary art within the western ideologies of art. PAMM’s mission is centered on amplifying diverse voices and Hubbell’s work is the perfect addition to that conversation,” said PAMM Associate Curator, Jennifer Inacio and Assistant Curator Maritza Lacayo.

Patrick Dean Hubbell (Dine’, b. 1986) is an indigenous artist who lives and works on a ranch in the Navajo Nation, where he has spent the majority of his life incorporating raw materials and natural earth pigments collected from his Diné homelands into his two-dimensional paintings and drawings. You Keep Our Spirit Safe Between All Within the Day to Night incorporates a variety of mediums—including oil, acrylic, enamel, acrylic dispersion, and sewing on canvas—weaving together the symbolism of his Navajo heritage into the lexicon of post modern painting to create densely spiritual works that connect the view to his ancestral past.

“We’re thrilled to have worked with PAMM’s curatorial team on this acquisition. Patrick is a rising star and certainly one to watch. We’re honored that this stunning piece has found a permanent home in one of Miami’s most beloved museums,” said Nina Johnson.

The NADA Acquisition Gift for PAMM provides funding for PAMM curators to acquire an artwork for the museum’s permanent collection, which features international modern and contemporary art from the U.S. Latino experience, the African diaspora, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

“We’re delighted to celebrate the fifth year of our partnership with Pérez Art Museum Miami for our annual acquisition gift,” said NADA Executive Director Heather Hubbs. “This collaboration plays an important role in how we integrate NADA, our galleries, and their artists in Miami’s diverse art scene. At the same time, this gift is our way of supporting the community here in South Florida and we’re thrilled for Patrick Dean Hubbell—an artist on the rise—to be acknowledged.”

Now in its fifth iteration, the NADA Acquisition Gift for PAMM was designed to enhance the relationship between the museum and the fair’s diverse roster of exhibiting galleries and artists, and provides an opportunity for NADA to support and engage with the art institutions of Miami-Dade County in exciting and dynamic ways. The NADA Acquisition Gift for PAMM is funded by ticket sales of NADA Miami 2022.
