NEW YORK, NY.- Bonhams has appointed Andrew Huber as the Head of the Post-War & Contemporary Art department in New York, following a record year for the department and upward trajectory in the category, year over year. In California, market success also continues to grow, and Bonhams has appointed Kate Rosenheim as Specialist and Head of Sale for Post-War and Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

Since joining Bonhams in 2019, Huber has been a key member of the New York team which has repeatedly set new record sale totals each year. In his new role, Huber is

responsible for overseeing department strategy in New York as well as securing consignments for sale across Bonhams’ global network. Huber played a crucial role in the record-breaking collection of previously unseen early works by Yayoi Kusama from the collection of the late Dr. Teruo Hirose ($15.2 million). Huber also oversaw the department’s highest ever various-owner sale total in May 2022, and combined sale total in November 2022. These auctions saw new world record prices for Martin Wong ($1,260,375), Kenny Scharf ($983,175), and for a Lynne Drexler work on paper ($208,275). Beyond bringing in key consignments, Huber’s creativity and keen market sense led him to arrange the successful single-lot auction of Ernie Barnes’ Solid Rock Congregation ($1,620,375) in September 2022.

In her role as a Specialist and Head of Sale, Kate Rosenheim will bring over twelve years of experience working in the contemporary art market to develop business for Bonhams global Post-War & Contemporary Art department. As head of sale, Rosenheim will continue the growth of local auctions following the year on year success of Bonhams LA auctions. Before stepping into her current role, Rosenheim was the Director of Iris Project Gallery and its residency program in Venice, California, and was the Executive Director of Rosenheim Appraisals. She is an experienced gallery director, curator, residency director, and appraiser and holds a master’s degree in Art and Curatorial Studies in the Public Sphere from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, and a bachelor’s degree in Art History from Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon. She is also an Accredited Member of the International Society of Appraisers in Fine Art, Antiques, Furnishings, and Decorative Arts.
