LONDON.- A Conical Sugar Bowl, designed by the pioneering 19th century designer Christopher Dresser (1834-1904), and made around 1885 by Elkington & Co. sold for £43,140 at the Unity in Variety: The David Bonsall Collection of Decorative Arts and Design sale in London today (Tuesday 14 February 2023). It had been estimated at £15,000-20,000.

Other highlights included:

• A French table with Dinanderie legs circa 1935. (Dinanderie is the French term for copper and brass craftsmanship. It derives from the present-day Belgian town of Dinant, a noted centre of copper production in the 11th century and subsequently. Sold for £25,500 (estimate: £1,000-1,500)

• A wardrobe (no.372) designed by Sir Ambrose Heal dating from around 1903. Sold for £9,563 (estimate: £1,200-1,800).

• An exquisite wooden box with inset enamel plaque from around 1928 designed by Mathilde Flögl for Wiener Werkstätte. Mathilde Flögl (1893 - 1958) was an Austrian artist and designer who worked in several different mediums including textiles, glass, and paint. She was a very prolific member of the Wiener Werkstätte. Sold for £4,080 (estimate: £1,000-1,500).

• Pink Floyd Rare Tour Poster for St James Hall in Chesterfield, 1969. This show was part of the band's The Man and The Journey tour, which was an informal concert tour of a few dates from March to September 1969. Sold for £3,825 (estimate: £2,000-3,000).
