High end jewelry and fine art lead the way at Roland Auctions

GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY Saturday, April 1st, 2023 Multi-Estates Auction, will feature hundreds of lots of Fine Art, Decorative Arts, 20th Century Modern, Antique & Vintage Furniture, textiles, silver, Gold and Silver Jewelry, rugs, Collectibles, Asian Art and lighting. Previews will be held on Thursday, March 30th and Friday, March 31st from 10am - 6pm.

Fine jewelry and fine art are front and center at this month’s auction. High end fine jewelry pieces by many top names will take the spotlight this month, with Roland offering a stunning GIA Certified Diamond & Platinum Ring, marquise diamond in platinum setting; diamond 3.34 carats, F color, SI2. Report #5175040. Platinum setting size 7 1/2, with two (2) 50-point diamond baguettes. Estimate $20,000-$30,000, a David Webb 18K Gold & Mabe Pearl Ring, yellow gold ring featuring a 20mm pearl in a large octagonal shaped setting, stamped "Webb / 18K". Size 6. 39.4 grams, 25.3 dwt. Estimate $4,000-$6,000 and a Triple-Strand South Sea Pearl Necklace, 13mm average pearls, 18K gold clasp. [103" L]. Estimate $3,000-$5,000.

Top pieces in Vintage jewelry are a pair of Antique Russian Diamond Earrings, each earring with 20 diamonds set in 14K yellow and white gold, in the original box, circa 1900. [2" L x 3/4" W]. Estimate $5,000-$8,000, a Vintage 18K Etruscan-Style Wide Bracelet, yellow gold Etruscan-style wide bracelet, of ladder link design, stamped "SAVI / FOT2500 / 750". 50.5 grams, 32.5 dwt. [7 1/2" L x 1 1/4" W]. Estimate $2,500-$3,500 and a Victorian matched set of 14K Earrings & Bracelet, in 14K gold with diamond, ruby and emerald stones. 35.7 grams, 22.9 dwt. [Earrings: 2" L]. Estimate $700-$1,200.

Other pieces are a 14K Yellow Gold Tiffany Cigarette Case, initialed "PvanB" on the case, stamped "Tiffany & Co." on the spring bar. 82.3 dwt., 12.7 grams. [3" H x 4 1/2" W x 5/16" D]. Estimate $6,000-$8,000 and a 14K Yellow Gold Tiffany Travel Clock, in an engraved case, 8 days, Swiss movement. [3" H x 2 5/8" W x 1" D]. Estimate $4,000-$6,000.

An eclectic selection of art is also being presented, like the Georgy Bashinzhagy (Armenian, 1857-1925): Mountain Landscape - oil on canvas mountain landscape; signed lower right and dated, 1914. [Sight: 37" H x 40 1/2" W; Frame: 42" H x 45 1/2" W]. Width (3" H x 3" W). Estimate $3,000-$5,000, the Augusta Savage: "Gamin" - Painted Clay Portrait, A rare work by an important, talented artist, Augusta Christine Fells (Moore) Savage (American, 1892-1962), a key member of the Harlem Renaissance, titled "Gamin". "Gamin" was her best-known work of the 1920s, being an informal bust portrait of her nephew, for which she was awarded a Julius Rosenwald Fellowship to study in Paris in 1929. [9 1/4 H x 5 1/2 W x 3 1/2 D inches]. Estimate $8,000-$12,000 and the Max Beckmann (German, 1884-1950),: "Kopf" - Bronze Sculpture, one of Beckmann's last works, "Kopf" ("Head"), executed in 1959, bronze with dark brown patina, captures most of his signature "Angst". Exhibited and illustrated: Catherine Viviano Gallery, November 2-28, 1959. [5 1/8" H]. Estimate $6,000-$8,000.

In the decorative arts arena they are offering an exquisite English Late Georgian Shell Inlaid Tea Caddy, Tea caddy of sarcophagus form with floral details and interior compartments, and raised on carved bun feet. [7 1/4" H x 12 1/2" W x 6 3/4" D]. Estimate $300-$500, a Paul Duboy (1830 - 1887): Bisque Bust Sculpture, polychrome painted porcelain bust of a woman wearing a plumed bonnet, signed verso. [28" H x 15" W x 9-10" D]. Estimate $600-$800, a French Gilt Framed Enamel Plaque, depicting figures in an interior scene within a Neoclassical-style frame, inscribed lower left. [Frame: 11 1/4" H x 7 3/4" W]. Estimate $150-$250 and a Grand Tour-Style Bronze Triton Fountain Model, in the Baroque taste, after Gianlorenzo Bernini, modeled as a double shell over dolphin supports, raised on a marble plinth base. The original is in Rome, Italy. [Overall: 11" H x 5 1/2" W x 4 1/2" D]. Estimate $100-$200.

One of many top silver pieces will be a 19th Century Russian Silver Samovar, of generous proportions, with fine checker pattern and neoclassical frieze bone handles, having four insulated bone mounts urn form with detachable covers, on square base with claw feet and acanthus scroll handles; all marked, 1896. [19" H x 14" W x 12" D]. Estimate $8,000-$10,000.

Antique furniture also makes a showing this month with the Late 19th century Victorian inlaid breakfront cabinet/sideboard/credenza, overall with burl panels and carved aesthetic movement details, the center glass door flanked by smaller doors with inset Wedgwood plaques. [47" H x 68 1/2" W x 16 1/4" D]. Estimate $1,000-$1,500, a George III Period Armchair, Neoclassical Adam cream-colored parcel painted and gilt armchair, finely upholstered. [37 1/2" H x 23 1/2" W x 24" D]. Estimate $800-$1,000 and a Continental Baroque Inlaid Vargueno Cabinet, Late 17th century Spanish or Portuguese vargueno, the ebony case with pewter string inlay around the chest, with inset marble drawer fronts, raised on gilt metal smashed bun feet. [13 7/8" H x 20 3/4" W x 10 1/4" D]. Estimate $500-$800.
