Michaan's June auctions offers 5 auction days with treasures from all over the world

ALAMEDA, CA.- In June, Michaan’s will conduct four auctions. Starting the month off with our Annex Auction from June 12th through June14th. Followed by our Gallery Auction on Friday, June 16th. Monday, June 19th start with our Modern Auction at 10 a.m. featuring heavily sought after names like Motherwell, Mapplethorpe, Eames, Knoll and Nakashima. This auction will be followed by our Fine Asian Art Auction highlighting an Important Horizontal Landscape Hand Scroll, attributed to Jing Hao, Ninth Century (born 850-) " Autumn Evening on Mount Chu," "Shiqu Baoji" Seal Mark.

June is featuring “Ira Yeager | Town & Country” properties from the artist’s homes and studio. This is a unique and eclectic collection that will be included in our June 16th Gallery Auction and our June 12th – 14th Annex auction. Including pieces of furniture at that are adorned with paintings and signed by Ira Yeager. One is a French style side table with a tea pot painted on top which bears his signature. There is also a pedestal table with a portrait of George Washington painted on top that is signed Ira Yeager. Ira wrote “Painting is my life (life blood and life force) – for me an everlasting quest in exploration of the various levels of my consciousness and creativity.”

Michaan’s Gallery Auction starts off with the Furniture and Decorative Arts section of the gallery auction will also featuring a Cambodian .800 .900 Silver hollowware articles; a Louis XVI style Boulle bureau mazarin; and an interesting ethnographic section featuring a Ifugao Bulul mounted human trophy skull.

The Fine Arts section has a strong showing of American artists including Tomi D. Kobara, Raphael Lillywhite, Irwin Luckman and Maurice Braun. The American artist Alexander Archipenko (born in the Ukraine, 1921) has exhibited his sculptures in many galleries and museums as well as having one of his in the permanent collection at The Met. Michaan’s is proud to be offering one of his sculptures in our June Gallery auction, Female Figure, made of marble and is inscribed.

Michaan’s will also be offering a wonderful grouping of pocket watches in the
jewelry section. Pocket watches are a timeless collectible that are always highly sought out. This grouping features a C.H. Meylon & Co. diamond, 14k gold pocket watch with a bloodstone, 9k gold watch chain. Also being offered in the jewelry section is a stunning Art Deco Diamond, Enamel, White Gold Locket Brooch, Mikimoto cultured pearl necklace, and a diamond ring that is over 2.5 carats.

The Asian art section of the gallery auction features wide variety of ceramic vessels including a yellow glazed altar vessel, a pink monochrome vase, a large blue and white underglaze red “deer and pine trees” vase, and a blue and white moon flask vase. As well as a Chinese painting depicting birds and flowers that is attributed to Xing Yifeng.

Monday, June 19th start with our Modern Auction at 10 a.m. featuring heavily sought after names like Motherwell, Mapplethorpe, Eames, Knoll and Nakashima.
The furniture and decorative arts section boasts chairs by Hans Wegner, a George Nakashima Origins tall dresser for Widdicomb, and daybeds by Bruno/Karl Mathson and Torben and Hanne Valeur. Decoratives have a wide range from Maria and Julian Martinez San Ildefonso Pueblo blackware vessel to Heinrichs for Cowell & Copper Cup. To round out the auction there is sophisticated throw by Claudy Jongstra. The Fine Art surges with a sculpture by Chaim Gross, “Horse with Three Acrobatic Riders.” Along with studio pottery from Otto Heino, Russell Wright and Van Poriggle.

This auction will be followed by our Fine Asian Art Auction highlighting an Important Horizontal Landscape Hand Scroll, attributed to Jing Hao Ninth Century (born 850-) " Autumn Evening on Mount Chu," "Shiqu Baoji" Seal Mark. There are also many lots to admire like a Chinese jade embellished magnifier and a hand mirror. The Chinese silk embroidered Dragon Robe and Skirt have impeccable stitching. There are two finely carved Guanyins, one in the Tang style.
