Nancy Race exhibition opens at MAGallery
Set Your Mind by Nancy Race.

MADISON, GA.- Continuing its tradition of introducing dynamic new artists to the Madison/Morgan County community, MAGallery will be hosting a month-long exhibition by abstract artist Nancy Race. Celebrating Freedom opens with a catered reception and live music on Friday, August 18 from 6 – 8 PM, where guests will have the opportunity to meet Ms. Race and mingle with other artists and guests. This is a free reception, and the public is invited to attend. The exhibition will remain at MAGallery through September 16, and all works are available for purchase.

Mixed media, collage and random hardware store implements are Ms. Race’s tools of the trade, with which she creates pieces either organic or geometric in nature, but always colorful. Race describes her process as intuitive and one that allows her “the freedom to create with abandon through vigorous mark making and vivid abundant color.”

Nancy was introduced to painting as an adult through a casual art class with friends. Because of her background in interior design, the study of color came naturally to Nancy. What astonished her was the immediate captivation she had with two-dimensional art, and she hasn’t stopped painting since. In New York City, she studied at the acclaimed Art Students League of New York and the National Academy of Art. Those experiences were the catalysts that cemented her love for abstract painting. To further develop abstract painting skills, Race sought out experiences to work with well-known artists Cat Tesla, Adele Sypesteyn and Nicholas Wilton. Race is represented by Toby West Antiques in Cashiers, NC, Stellers Gallery and Missy’s Art & Pieces in Jacksonville, FL.

MAGallery is a retail art gallery showcasing original work of twenty artists and eight authors and hosting rotating special exhibitions like Celebrating Freedom. Located at 125 W. Jefferson Street in Madison, GA, gallery hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 AM to 5 PM. Madison Artists Guild is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to education and to the encouragement of artistic endeavor in its members and the community, and it supports local artists and their talents through MAGallery.
