GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY is presenting its first auction of the Fall season on Saturday September 23rd 2023 at 10am. The auction features over 800 lots of Fine Art, Decorative Arts, 20th Century Modern, Antique & Vintage Furniture, Textiles, Silver, Gold and Silver Jewelry, Rugs, Collectibles, Asian Art and Decorative Arts, and Lighting. Previews will be held on Thursday, September 21st, 10am - 6pm & Friday, September 22nd 10am -6pm.

This September 23rd auction follows last month’s highly-successful two-part estates sale, which enjoyed highlights including an 18K Patek Philippe Fancy Scroll lugs watch that grew from a $2/3,000 estimate to selling for $46,875. In good working condition, the wristwatch came with a gilt stamped black leather strap and an18K gold Patek Philippe tang clasp, along with a Martiros Saryan (Russian-Armenian, 1880-1972), Village Street Scene - oil on board nighttime street scene with figures; signed and dated in red to bottom right, 1907. [Unframed board: 20 1/2" H x 17 1/4" W]. Triangular-form 5" H x 4" W, that sold for $10,625.

In one of Roland’s most popular arenas, Contemporary Art, they are offering an Attributed to Diederik van Appel (Dutch, b. 1985) "Popeye Stay Strong" High quality colorful resin composite life-size sculpture of King Features cartoon character Popeye the Sailor Man. Marked "Stay Strong." [71 H x 42 W x 14 D inches, all approximate measurements]. Est: $6,000 - $8,000, a Sam Francis Untitled abstract acrylic painting on rag paper, 1979, in shades of deep blue. Not signed. Literature: Sam Francis catalog no. SF-79-166, published by the Institute of Experimental Printmaking, San Francisco, 1979, in collaboration with Garner Tullis. Provenance: Purchased from Andre Emmerich Gallery in 1980. Comes with original bill of sale. Sam Francis (American, 1923 - 1994) occupies a prominent position in post-war American painting. [Sheet: 17" H x 13 3/4" W; Frame: 24" H x 21" W]. Est: $6,000 - $8,000 and an After Alexander CALDER: Woven Jute Tapestry/Rug, After Alexander Calder Josephine Baker tapestry. Abstract wall hanging tapestry, jute fiber. Bon Art Edition Number 62/100, 1975. Gautemala - possibly C.A.C. Publications. When Calder first moved to Paris in 1926, he began creating his Cirque Calder and continued to explore his invention of wire sculpture, whereby he "drew" with wire in three dimensions. He made five portraits of Josephine Baker, who at the time starred at the Folies Bergere (from the Calder Foundation). [84 x 56 1/2 inches]. Est: $15,000 - $20,000.

Decorative Arts and Silver are represented well this month, with a pair of Antique Polychrome Columns, Pair of carved and decorated palatial wood columns on concrete bases. Est: $4,000 - $6,000,a Titulo Portuguese Silver Royal Coach, "Titulo" marked and hallmarked royal coach / chariot with four wheels, putti finials, working glass doors, felt lined, with removable top. 83. ozt. inclusive. [8" H x 15" W x 5" D]. Est: $3,000 - $5,000, an Antique French Silver and Enamel Vesta Box, Antique French silver and enamel vesta box by Jules Wiese for Francois-Desire Froment, Meurice, Paris, circa 1848, having putti finial holding torches on spring hinge top, and enamel silver case with chariot panel reserve, stone mounts and dragon feet. 10.8 ozt. [5" H x 3 1/2" W x 2 1/4" D]. Est: $3,000 - $4,000, and a Large Buccellati Shell-Form Centerpiece, Large Buccellati silver shell-form centerpiece, with scroll top edge, on four conch shell-form feet. 87.4 ozt. [4" H x 14" W x 16" D].Est: $6,000 - $8,000.

Jewelry includes a Russian 14K Gold & Diamond Brooch, Diamond encrusted pin, of insect form, having a large garnet and a pearl. 16.8 dwt. Est: $6,000 - $8,000 and a Cartier "Pasha" Automatic Watch, Cartier "Pasha" automatic watch with date, in stainless case with diamond bezel. Est: $2,000- $3,000.

Furniture offered includes a English 18th C. Portrait Commode, Antique petite three-drawer commode, having a relief medallion painting on top and a reticulated gallery. [31" H x 29" W x 20" D]. Est: $4,000 - $6,000.
