WESTBOROUGH, MA.- Members of the public are invited to greet Edna Hibel, one of America’s best-loved artists, at a rare New England appearance. An Edna Hibel book signing of two new biographies of her life and art, and an exhibition of her work, will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2006, from noon to six, at the Doubletree Hotel Boston/Westborough, 5400 Computer Drive, in Westborough, Massachusetts.

According to Ms. Hibel’s lithographer, Thomi Wolfensberger, “Nobody has come even close to creating more or better original multi-color stone lithographs than Edna Hibel.” During this exhibition of paintings - some not seen by the public in decades - and stone lithographs - many of which the renowned artist has enhanced by hand with oils, pastels, and gold leaf - Edna Hibel will greet guests and sign two new books about her art: Edna Hibel: An Artist’s Story of Love and Compassion by Millie Brown Clarkson (Pelican Publishing Co.: New Orleans), and The Life and Art of Edna Hibel by Shawn McAllister (Star Group International: West Palm Beach).

The book signing and exhibition are free to the public. There is a fee for a limited-seating brunch celebration of Edna Hibel’s 90th birthday, which will be held at 10 a.m. prior to the book signing.

Edna Hibel was born in Boston and received two degrees from the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts. After Robert Rauschenberg, Edna Hibel is only the second American to receive the coveted Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts, and the only living American woman to have a non-profit public museum dedicated to her art. She is also one of a very few people over the past 500 years to have created art in nine different decades.

The site of the Hibel book signing, the Double Tree Hotel, has free parking, and is centrally located on the north side of route 9 just west of I-495. Information about the exhibition, book signing, and birthday brunch may be obtained by contacting 1-800-275-3426.
