Christie's New York presents the first Handbags Online: The September Edition

NEW YORK, NY.- Christie’s New York unveiled its inaugural September Handbags auction: Handbags Online: The September Edition. This online sale, open for bidding from September 4 - 18, features over 100 curated lots, showcasing rare and exceptional handbags from iconic brands including Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Dior, alongside a debut selection from Chrome Hearts. Highlights will be on display at Christie’s New York from 13 – 17 September.

The sale introduces a curated selection of Chrome Hearts bags from The Collection of Justin Reed, including a Black and Multicolor Cross Patch Backpack with Sterling Silver Hardware (Estimate $15,000-20,000). Founded in 1988, Chrome Hearts bags are rare finds in both retail and secondary markets, boasting a dedicated celebrity following and presenting a unique opportunity for collectors.

Leading the sale are two standout items: a Rare, Matte White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Birkin 25 With Palladium Hardware (Estimate $100,000-150,000), and a Rare, Matte White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Retourné Kelly 25 With Palladium Hardware (Estimate $100,000-120,000). Additional highlights include a Shiny Ombré Salvator Lizard Birkin 25 With Palladium Hardware (Estimate $50,000-60,000), a Limited Edition Caban Togo Leather Multipocket HAC 50 With Palladium Hardware (Estimate $45,000-55,000), and a Limited Edition Painted Natural Sable Butler Leather Quadrige Sellier Kelly 28 With Palladium Hardware by Pierre Perron (Estimate $30,000-40,000).

A particularly noteworthy item is a Hermès Shiny Black Porosus Crocodile Mini Kelly 20 from 1991, featuring solid 18K yellow gold and diamond hardware (Estimate $30,000-40,000). Fewer than 10 examples have been offered at auction in the past decade and the model marks a significant moment in Hermès’s history as the first Kelly adorned with diamonds.
