Art Copenhagen - The Nordic Art Fair 2006
Art Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN.- ART COPENHAGEN 2006, the biggest art fair in Scandinavia, presents over 60 trend-setting Nordic galleries on September 22, 23 & 24 in Forum, Copenhagen. The biggest art fair in the Northern countries! With the largest participation so far of Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and this year also Finnish galleries, ART COPENHAGEN 2006 strengthens its position as the leading art meet of Scandinavia!

The many applications for this year’s ART COPENHAGEN have now been assessed and over 60 Nordic galleries - newly opened as well as established ones – have been chosen to profile the fair. With them they bring works by both the rising stars of contemporary art and the heavy-weights of modern art: Abstract as well as fantastic paintings, provocative video art, and complex installations!!

As a new venture, Art Copenhagen has joined forces with the clothes company Diesel’s international art competition Diesel New Art, and exhibits this year’s winnings works in the four categories action, digital, draw and photo. Since last year, several of the winners have made a remarkable impact on the Nordic art scene and the open-to-all competition distinguishes itself by keeping an ambitious artistic level.

Discussions and debates between art critics and collectors, museum people and gallery owners will dive deep into the world of today’s art and invite visitors of the fair to meet ART COPENHAGEN’s main players – the artists.

This year, the traditional guided tours on the fair have been expanded to also offer tailor-made tours bringing the visitor closer to exactly the type of art he or she is interested in buying – be it for the private walls, the company or the art society!

ART COPENHAGEN is a serious market place where art collectors, browsers, and potential art buyers can find inspiration and guidance from a long line of leading Nordic galleries joined under one roof. A must for everyone who wishes to invest in art and to experience the latest tendencies in art!

Members of the selection committee are: gallery owners Nils Stærk, Jens Faurschou, Ola Gustafson, Henrik Kampmann og Mikael Andersen, art collector Leif Djurhuus and Eva Vedel and Anne Sommer from Forum Copenhagen.
