BELLEVUE, WA.- The Bellevue Arts Museum presents the exhibit Dim Sum at the On-On Tea Room: The Jewelry of Ron Ho through February 18, 2007. Dim Sum at the On-On Tea Room is an exhibition showing the complete work of Northwest jewelry artist, Ron Ho. From his works titled All Fall Down – a necklace with a bone domino, bone collar, underwear buttons and ebony with fabricated silver– created in 1969, to the more recent necklaces inspired by his travels throughout Asia, the exhibition will feature approximately 50 pieces spanning four decades.

Born of Chinese-American descent, the artist has over the years incorporated Chinese daily-life icons such as chopsticks, a bowl of rice, and dim sum into his works, transforming them into symbols of his renewed interest for his heritage. The pieces lead the audience through the artist’s maturation of a sensibility for the Asian world and coming to terms with his Chinese heritage. Through the exoticism of found objects collected on his travels abroad, and the familiarity of that unpretentious minutia of life shining with whim, Ron Ho creates whimsical jewelry that reflect and weigh up the multicultural interests of the maker and the wearer. This exhibition has been organized by Bellevue Arts Museum.
