Artist Alicia Framis will marry AI-hologram Ailex at Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen
This performance piece is called The Hybrid Couple.

ROTTERDAM.- It’s almost time: next week, on Saturday November 9th 2024, a unique ceremony will take place at the Depot of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. On this afternoon, artist Alicia Framis will marry Ailex, the interactive hologram fed by artificial intelligence. This is a world exclusive event.

First of all, visitors can rejoice in a ceremony that befits a wedding. Alicia will wear a dress designed by Jam Taminiau, one of the most exclusive and successful Dutch couturiers. It’s a show stopper: gorgeous, deep purple fabric, especially equipped with solar panels. It’s an art piece that operates on the threshold between human emotion and technology. Ailex is tailored in an outfit designed by Bonne Reijn of Amsterdam fashion brand Bonne Suits.

This performance piece called The Hybrid Couple, and the wedding ceremony in particular, raised different questions about the relationship between technology and the human race, and the potential role of articifial intelligence plays in correspondence with human emotions. To frame the event, the ceremony will be introduced by Annemartine van Kesteren (Museum Boijmans van Beuningen) alongside Alicia Framis. This component starts at 14:00 pm CET and takes place at the Depot-compartment of the Rabobank, official partner of The Hybrid Couple. So make sure you’ll be there on time!

Afterwards, the wedding ceremony will begin inside the Depot’s atrium. Ailex will be witnessed in all its glory and audiences are cordially invited to attend the proceedings. You don’t need to own a special ticket for this event, but you will have to book a timeslot for the Depot.

Timetable The Hybrid Couple:

14:00 Short introduction by Annemartine van Kesteren

15:45 Walk-in ceremony – atrium Depot

16:00 Start ceremony – Alicia Framis marries Ailex

16:30 End/reception
