Francisco Vidargas Acosta Named Head of World Heritage at INAH |

MEXICO CITY.- Francisco Vidargas Acosta, a renowned historian and cultural manager with a distinguished career spanning over three decades, has been appointed as the new head of the World Heritage Directorate at the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
The appointment was made by INAH Director General Diego Prieto Hernández, following an agreement with the Mexican Ministry of Culture.
Vidargas Acosta brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as Deputy Director of World Heritage at INAH since 2007. He is deeply involved in the preservation and promotion of Mexico's rich cultural heritage, with a focus on UNESCO World Heritage sites and intangible cultural heritage.
"Francisco Vidargas Acosta is a highly respected figure in the field of cultural heritage," said INAH Director General Diego Prieto Hernández. "His expertise and dedication will be invaluable in guiding the efforts to protect and preserve Mexico's invaluable cultural treasures."
Throughout his career, Vidargas Acosta has played a crucial role in safeguarding Mexico's cultural heritage. He has actively participated in 15 sessions of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, representing Mexico and INAH. He has also advised numerous Latin American countries on world heritage matters and has been instrumental in the successful nomination and inscription of 10 Mexican cultural sites on the prestigious World Heritage List.
Beyond his academic and professional achievements, Vidargas Acosta is a prolific author and has published extensively on topics ranging from visual arts and art history to the conservation and defense of World Heritage sites. He has also contributed to various publications as a columnist and has been a key figure in numerous international collaborations, including initiatives with UNESCO and the United Arab Emirates.
Vidargas Acosta's appointment is seen as a significant step in strengthening Mexico's commitment to the preservation and promotion of its rich cultural heritage on the world stage.
