DENVER, CO.- The Denver Art Museum announced today that 33,755 people visited the Museum complex during its Hot DAM: Art at All Hours Grand Opening Celebration on October 7 & 8. The Museum operated near maximum capacity, bringing in approximately 1,000 visitors per hour throughout the free, 35-hour event.

A wide array of activities including entertainment, tours, family programming, art demonstrations and much more took place throughout the Museum complex during the event. The celebration commemorated the 35th anniversary of the Museum’s North Building , designed by Gio Ponti, and the opening of the new Daniel Libeskind-designed Frederic C. Hamilton Building .

The public opening was preceded by a series of Museum member events during which 18,371 individuals enjoyed a sneak peek at the new Denver Art Museum building. Members will continue to have exclusive access to the Museum complex every Monday for the upcoming six months (excluding Christmas and New Year’s Day). For information about how to become a member, visit www.denverartmuseum.org.

“We are thrilled that more than 33,000 people were able to join us in celebrating the opening of our new complex. The opening weekend marked a new beginning for us and it was a fantastic way to kick off our expanded programming,” said the Museum’s director of marketing Janet Meredith. The Museum anticipates approximately one million visitors during opening year.

The Museum implemented timed tickets to manage visitor flow and avoid overcrowding in the galleries and will continuing using the timed ticketing system throughout its opening season. Visit www.denverartmuseum.org or call 1-866-409-0278 (1-866-4090- ART ) to purchase timed tickets. Tickets are still available for all time slots. Beginning yesterday, adult museum admission to the Museum is $10 for Colorado residents and $13 for non-residents. On the first Saturday of each month, general Museum admission will be free for Colorado residents thanks to funding from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD).
