NEW YORK, NY.- Public Art Fund announces the appointments of Margot Beda Bram and Alexandra Sorokolit Frankel as Members of its Board of Directors, an international group of philanthropists and artists who support the organizations mission. Both will support and advance Public Art Funds mission to present dynamic contemporary art in New York City and beyond for free.
Bram and Frankel join the Board at an exciting moment for Public Art Fund, as the organization approaches its 50th anniversary and continues to expand its footprint, with upcoming projects including JFK Airports new Terminal 6 and Between Tides, an exhibition in Rockaway Beach.
Margot Bram and Alexandra Frankel are dedicated supporters of the cultural life of our city, and represent the future of Public Art Funds leadership. Both of them understand that artists are crucial to connect communities and inspire creativity, said Board Chair Elizabeth Fearon Pepperman. Public Art Fund plays a vital role in fostering public engagement with art, and the election of these two leaders brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm for art and public service that aligns perfectly with our mission.
Margot Beda Bram is a graduate of New York University with a bachelors degree in art history and art theory. She has over a decade of experience working in the art world in different capacities, including with Skarstedt Fine Arts and Schwartzman & Associates. An active member of Public Art Funds Artists Champion Circle, Bram lives on the Upper East Side with her family.
Alexandra Sorokolit Frankel is originally from Fort Worth, Texas and now lives and works in New York. She holds a bachelors degree in studio art and art history from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree in art therapy from New York University. Frankel previously worked at the Museum of Modern Art as the Assistant Director of Affiliate Programs, and at RxArt, a not-for-profit organization that collaborates with contemporary artists and children's hospitals to create museum quality site-specific art installations in healthcare facilities nationwide. Working closely with hospitals and artists led Frankel to the profession of art therapy, and she has worked as an art therapist with a variety of populations in NYC elementary schools and in-patient hospital settings. Frankel now works as a painter and mother in Tribeca and Kingston, NY. She served as a Board member at Childrens Museum of the Arts from 2020 until fall 2024, and has been a member of Public Art Fund's Directors Circle+ since 2022.
