GARRISON, NY.- Boscobel House and Gardens announced the appointments of Seamus Carroll to its Board of Directors and Amber Stickle as the organization’s Deputy Director of Operations and Facilities, effective October 2024 and January 2025, respectively.

Both individuals bring a wealth of experience and leadership working with a range of mission-adjacent organizations. Their appointments mark an exciting new chapter for Boscobel as it continues to expand its community impact and undergoes a major restoration of its historic house museum throughout 2025.

Seamus Carroll Joins Board of Directors

A seasoned technology executive with a distinguished career across engineering, business, and finance sectors, Carroll has worked closely with Boscobel for years on various programs and as a board member of the Philipstown Garden Club, a key programmatic partner. Carroll has served on multiple boards for regional nonprofit organizations focused on local education and environmental issues. Carroll’s deep understanding of governance and operational efficiency will be an asset to Boscobel as it looks to expand its reach and community-driven programming and partnerships.

“We are thrilled to welcome Seamus to our Board of Directors,” said Jennifer Carlquist, Executive Director of Boscobel House and Gardens. “He has been a longtime supporter of Boscobel and his strategic vision and extensive experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow and serve this community. We look forward to his leadership and contributions.”

With a proven track record in nonprofit management, Stickle brings over 15 years of experience in program development, operations, and community outreach. Most recently serving as Boscobel’s Director of Audience Engagement and Programming, Stickle has held senior positions at several local organizations where she led major institutional growth initiatives.

Known for her ability to build meaningful partnerships with local stakeholders to create relevant community programming, her vision for the future of Boscobel is centered on expanding its educational offerings and enhancing visitor experiences. Her ability to manage complex projects provides critical support to Executive Director Jennifer Carlquist and the team of staff, trustees, and expert contractors overseeing the renovation of its historic house museum.

“It is a personal and professional thrill for me to have Amber step into the role of Deputy Director,” said Carlquist. “Over the past three years, her passion for excellence and strong leadership skills have helped everyone at Boscobel achieve new heights in outreach and impact. Expanding her role amplifies our efforts to welcome and inspire our visitors, steward our site and resources, streamline operations, and strengthen connections to our community and beyond.”

Seamus Carroll has lived in Philipstown for 40 years and is passionate about education, gardening, architecture, and conservation. He is a retired technology executive with a background in engineering, business, and finance. With his wife Marie Wieck, he raised his two daughters in Cold Spring and was heavily involved with many programs at Haldane Central School. Seamus has served on numerous boards including the Hudson Highlands Land Trust, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, the Haldane School Foundation, St. Mary’s Community Board, Land to Learn, and the Philipstown Garden Club. He is also actively involved with the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley and is a Master Gardener at the Cornell Cooperative Extension. He also worked with the Putnam History Museum on several acquisitions and an exhibition. He has actively partnered with several programs at Boscobel over the past few years and most recently moderated the “Meadows Matter” seminar in October 2024.

Amber Stickle joined Boscobel in 2022 with an impressive toolkit for project management, program development, financial administration, and event planning. She spent 15 distinguished years as Director of Recreation and Parks for the Town of Philipstown, overseeing the acquisition, launch, and management of a 35,500-square-foot community center, a variety of sports fields, and multiple parkland sites within the community. Amber has collaborated with countless local schools, organizations, and citizens to provide learning and recreational opportunities for children, adults, and senior citizens.

Amber holds a B.A. in Public Administration and Policy with a concentration in education from SUNY Albany, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Marist College. She is currently a member of the Melzingah Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and Senior State Vice President for the New York State chapter of the Children of the American Revolution.
