GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY will present vintage textiles from the Dalva Brothers Collection, including inventory from Lucien Alavoine & Co., the luxury designer for the Vanderbilt’s, The Plaza Hotel and others at their upcoming auction Saturday, February 1st at 10am.

The preview will take place on Friday, January 31st, 10am – 5:30pm at Roland. The Collection features rare and important antique textiles and embroideries, dating from about 1500 to 1900, including pieces formerly in the inventory of Dalva Brothers, Inc. The prestigious New York specialists and dealers in European fine and decorative arts of the 17th and 18th centuries, was founded in 1933 by Leon Dalva Sr. and his brothers.


After Prevost Roses, Anemones, Pensees, Neles, Auricules, Jonquilles et Muguet No. 8 - 300+ Prints. Estimate $500-$800. Estimate $500-$700.


Also included are high-end yardage and fabric samples, ca. 1920-1950, from the New York showroom of Lucien Alavoine and Company, the luxury interior decorating firm that operated in Paris, London, and New York, and whose clients included residents of Newport, RI; The Plaza Hotel; and the Vanderbilt House in New York. Alavoine distributed furnishing fabrics produced by Lyon's top manufacturers, like Tassinari & Chatel, Rodier, and Cornille.

The February 1st auction will also offer over 100 lots of antique prints and etchings from the prestigious Phyllis Lucas Gallery, and select additions from the Estate of Hans Jelinek. Following just one week later on February 8th at 10am, the next Multi-Estates auction features hundreds a fresh collection of Fine Art & Sculpture, Decorative Art, 20th Century Modern, Antique & Vintage Furniture, Textiles, Silver, Gold and Silver Jewelry, Rugs, Collectibles, Asian Art and Decorative Arts, and Lighting, from estate finds and private collectors. Previews for this auction will be held Thursday, February 6th & Friday, February 7th, 10am – 6pm.

Notable lots from the Dalva Brothers Collection on February 1st will include 4 Continental 17th-19th C. Silk Embroidered Panels, A set of 4 Continental silk embroidered panels having silk chenille and silver embroidered flowers including tulips and carnations, probably Italian 17th Century, reapplied to a cream satin ground and finished with fringe, all lined in silk. [Each approx.: 28.5" H x 44" L with fringe]. Estimate $2,000-$3,000, a Pair of 18th C. Italian Silk Embroidered Valances, A pair of 18th Century Italian valances having silk embroidered appliques depicting flowers, dragons, and a coat of arms, reapplied to a later red silk velvet ground, trimmed with woven gold ribbon and metallic fringe, with modern cotton lining. [26" H x 87.75" W and 26.25" H x 90.5" W]. Estimate $800-$1,200, a 16th/17th C. Spanish Embroidered Altar Frontal, A 16th/17th Century Spanish embroidered altar frontal having padded silver and silk embroidery on purple silk velvet, the central cartouche with a cross and two cypress trees surrounded by two serpents, the borders with flowers including tulips and heraldic lions, lined in modern linen. Probably from Castile and Leon. Provenance: Sold at the American Art Galleries, Sale #4275, November 14, 1935. [39" H x 78" W]. Estimate $700-$900 and a set of 3 17th C. Continental Velvet Garments, A set of three 17th Century Continental ecclesiastical vestments, comprising two dalmatics and a chasuble, of brocatelle (silk and linen) and red silk velvet, lined in linen, the dalmatics with silver braiding. [Chasuble: 45.5" L x 27.5" W; Dalmatics (approx.): 46.5" L x 39.5" W each]. Estimate $600-$800.

Also offered is a Baroque Silk Embroidered Wool Panel, Circa 1700, A Baroque silk embroidered wool panel having silk embroidery on green felted wool with design of symmetrical arch hanging lamp, flowers, and urns, trimmed in metallic ribbon, with modern lining, circa 1700. Possibly Northern European or Balkan. [64.75" H x 50.75" W]. Estimate $500-$700.

A large collection of over 50 Redoute & Prevost portfolios of vintage colored botanical prints, all from the Phyllis Lucas Gallery, NY are also featured. This collection of approximately 50 portfolios of vintage colored botanical prints after works are by Pierre Joseph Redoute (Belgian, 1759-1840) and Jean Louis Prevost (French, 1760-1810). Estimate $5,000-$7,000, a Dino Rosin (Italian, born 1948)"Adonis" Murano Glass Sculpture, calcedonia Murano Glass "Adonis" sculpture on a black marble stand signed "Dino Rosin" at front of base, and stamped "Studio Murano Venezia" at upper rear to base.
