WINDSOR, UK.- The Windsor Contemporary Art Fair returns to Windsor this year to help the people of Berkshire with their inevitable search for that unique Christmas present. The event will be held at Sir Christopher Wren's House Hotel & Spa, Windsor on the 4th and 5th of November. It will be free to enter between 11am and 5pm on both days.
"Art is the perfect Christmas gift, it is original, thoughtful and will brighten up the owner's home for years to come" said Deborah James, joint founder of the WCAF. "Increasingly art is becoming an integral part of our lifestyles and the art fair aims to take this love of art further by bringing it into the home at Christmas."
This year it will be opened by Olympic, World and European gold medallist and local resident Marlon Devonish MBE, who is principal sponsor for the event. Marlon's first collection of paintings, pencil drawings and prints will be unveiled at the art fair and promise to extend his reputation as an incredible athlete to a talented artist also. His collection is likely to be a firm favourite with Christmas shoppers.
There will be the opportunity to browse and buy a wide range of artwork directly from locally and nationally renowned artists, as well as selected galleries. Drawings, sculptures, prints, ceramics and decorative pieces from both established professionals and up and coming artists will be exhibited, providing a broad showcase of affordable and exclusive artwork for the home. Contributing galleries include the Blue Tulip Gallery, Figura Gallery and the Barn Acre Gallery. Local artists include Tom Brannigan, Dianne Callaghan, Steffi Goddard and Cynthia Barlow Marrs.
Visitors from surrounding counties and as far away as Oxford are expected to attend, thanks to the easy public transport routes into Windsor and ample parking available.
A silent auction will take place, with proceeds going to The Prince's Trust to help disadvantaged youth in the local community. Bids will start at £20. For a chance of getting a truly unique Christmas bargain, visitors will be able to take part in a silent auction for 5" by 7" canvasses, some of which will have been painted by contributing celebrities Susan George, Linford Christie OBE and Marlon Devonish MBE.
The venture is organised by Deborah James, who has recently transformed the Blue Tulip Gallery into a highly successful corporate art business, and Sarah McAllister of The Framing Company, Datchet.
