CHICAGO, IL.- Landry Pop Auctions announced record-breaking, white-glove results from back-to-back April 22nd comics auctions that captivated collectors and enthusiasts from across the globe. The Paperboy Collection: Platinum & Gold Age Comics achieved an impressive $1,317,280 sale total, reaching 150% by value and 100% by lot—a testament to the strength of the material and fervent demand from bidders for this historic collection.

Standout lots included the highly sought-after D.C. Comics Detective Comics #27 CGC 4.0, featuring the first appearance of Batman, which soared past its high estimate to realize a remarkable $683,200, as well as D.C. Comics Detective Comics #31 CGC 7.0, which achieved a new world record when it realized $329,400—more than twice its low estimate.

This historic collection was brought to auction by the daughter of a paperboy who assembled the trove during his youth in rural Maine, nearly ninety years ago. "It feels unreal, like maybe it was just dream," she says of the astounding auction results. "I never expected anything like this in my life." The seller first connected with Travis Landry after watching his appearances on the popular series Antiques Roadshow. "I’ve been moving them from closet to closet and stepping over them for twenty years and just looked at them one day and thought, it’s time...it’s time to contact Travis and let them go."

Further top results from The Paperboy Collection include each issue from the complete run of D.C. Comics Action Comics #8–17: D.C. Comics Action Comics #10 CGC 5.5, which features the third-ever Superman cover and is considered by Travis Landry to be "a true cornerstone of comic book history," realized $67,100. D.C. Comics Action Comics #13 CGC 5.5, with one of "the most iconic Superman covers of all time," achieved $46,360. Almost all other Action Comics offered exceeded their high estimate.

The Vault: Icons from Golden to Modern also delivered exceptional results, achieving $446,466 in total sales—116% by value and 100% by lot. Among the highest-selling lots were the Marvel Comics Fantastic Four #1 CGC 8.0, which realized $97,600, the D.C. Comics Batman #1 CBCS 6.0 Restored that sold for $39,040, and the Rural Home Mask Comics #2 CGC 7.0, which exceeded its high estimate to achieve $35,380.
