Ravishing Blue: Imperial Porcelains from an Important Private Collection achieves US$21M

HONG KONG.- On 2 May 2025, Christie’s proudly presented Ravishing Blue: Imperial Porcelains From An Important Private Collection, a single-owner auction that brought together three rare and exceptional masterpieces from the Yongle, Yongzheng, and Qianlong reigns. The auction room was packed with enthusiastic collectors competing for the masterpieces. The collection was 100% sold, achieving a total of HK$162,613,000 / US$21,067,132, and exceeding the low estimate by 110%, reflecting the demand from the market for important Ming and Qing ceramics with excellent provenance. A fine and very rare blue and white ‘bamboo, rock and plantain’ vase, meiping, Yongle period (1403-1425) led the sale, realising HK$78,125,000 / US$10,121,391, more than 1.5 times over low estimate. Another highlight of the sale is a fine and extremely rare large blue and white ‘dragon’ vase, tianqiuping, Yongzheng six-character mark in underglaze blue in a line and of the period (1723-1735), which achieved HK$74,675,000 / US$9,674,430. The results further reinforce Christie’s position as the auction house of reference for prestigious single-owner collections globally.

The sale highlighted the pinnacle of craftsmanship and artistic achievement in Ming and Qing imperial porcelain, tracing the evolution of blue-and-white porcelain over four centuries. Christie’s is immensely proud to have offered these masterpieces to Asian Art collectors and enthusiasts, celebrating centuries of cultural heritage and artistic craftsmanship.

• A FINE AND EXTREMELY RARE LARGE BLUE AND WHITE 'DRAGON' VASE, TIANQIUPING YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE IN A LINE AND OF THE PERIOD (1723-1735), 20 3/8 in. (51.5 cm.) high. Price realised: HK$74,675,000 / US$9,674,430

• A FINE AND VERY RARE BLUE AND WHITE 'PEACH' VASE QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795) 10 in. (25.3 cm.) high. Price realised: HK$9,813,000 / US$1,271,311. ALMOST DOUBLED HIGH ESTIMATE.
